Default Recommend a tent!

I'm looking to camp on site at this years oople race but I'm undecided on what tent to buy? Has anyone got any recommendations? There will be 2 of us and preferably something easy to put up and take down. Thanks in advance.

if it's just for kipping in, you can't go wrong with this, flies up in seconds and doesn't take up too much boot space either http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/outdo...FZShtAodzFMARQ

Depends what you want it for - is it just for sleeping or will you be cooking, storing stuff etc.

If I speak with my Scout Leader hat on, then firstly I would always advise you go for a size at least 1 man bigger than you need (i.e. if there are 2 of you, go for a 3 man etc). A decent sized porch area is good for storage / cooking.
A pop up is certainly easy - practice taking it down in advance as that is inversely proportional to the ease of erection.

Vango do some great low/mid priced tents as do the outdoor shop "Go Outdoors" - their "Hi-Gear" range is very good and often mirrors higher priced brands.
Sewn in ground sheet means warmer, less likelihood to leak, but also less air flow - NO NOT TRY TO BBQ INSIDE A TENT WITHOUT AIRFLOW.

Hope this helps

if you can find 1 the Quechua Base 4.1 is awesome.

the bedroom part can sleep 4, for 2 it's a palace - and the main area you can stand up in and 2 can pit comfortably in.

Erected (hehe) in literally seconds and put away in a few minutes.

I got a Vaude 3 man for me and my son's racing weekends. Great tent and very light for back packing as well.

Unless you go trekking, hiking etc and ALSO have extremely limited space in your car then a mountain style tent like above is fine but they are small and light for a reason.

if you want a tent purely for when you go racing etc then id look at pop ups etc, really no point spending £200 on a mountain tent Just for racing.

I used a quecha 4 person pop up for the weeks i was away working at the Olympics, stayed perfectly dry all the way through and was comfortable.

Personally wouldn't bother with a Khyam for sleeping in unless you have an inner tent. I slept in mine at last year's oOple race and it was drafty as hell. Brilliant for pitting in though.

I'm going to buy a Quechua of some description for camping at meetings.

I've just bought a used tent for the series myself.. It is a Lichfield.. Goes up easy n sleeping area can be left engaged for ease of erection(!)the living area is a healthy 2.1m with 1.6m headroom.. This 3 man tent is now available new for around £70 and IMO is worth it...

Most people will make suggestions based on their own experiences, and I'm no different.. As said earlier in the thread, go for one that is bigger than the amount of people who will be using it... So get yourself off to go outdoors, blacks etc n have a look for yourself... I would say however, considering the fickle nature of the English climate, go for a tent that has at least 2000HH(hydrostatic head)rating(the higher the number the more "waterproof" it is...)along with a sewn in ground sheet to the sleeping area at least...

Hope you get sorted...
