Default My own Dex 210 (V2) chassis layout, first try

Looking at the new Yokomos made me want to use my saddle packs in my Dex 210 in the same way. This let me design a monocoque chassis which I currently try to get milled in aluminium as prototype. The chassis will hold saddle packs side by side or a shorty pack either in the front or the rear of the compartment and also the new square type batteries. No stick packs at the moment, but it would be easy to change it for stick packs too.
I am looking forward to test this layout, might be on the heavy (and expensive) side, but as always - eating is the proof of the cake...

Nice CAD Model Just a few questions/suggestions:

1. Make the rear end solid where the cutout for the rear bumper usually is. Carbon and (first version) DIMEC chassis' are prone to breakage there, it'd be a shame to see that happen to your prototype part. With a cutout in the RR hanger (Spec B hanger) and a Spec B bumper you'll be able to use bumpers again.

2. I'm kind of missing a longitudinal shorty layout? It should be the weapon of choice on high grip.

3. Is it for personal use or to eventually put for sale? Either way, have you considered having cut out a plate and 3D printing the sidepods? The resulting chassis will likely be more flexible than the original chassis, but it should significantly lower cost as well as increase the flexibility to alter your design (after all, the sidepods will define the battery placement in your design).

4. What is the wheelbase of your chassis? Kit? Longer than kit?

Anyway, it looks really good. Updates on the 210 are long overdue, so you're starting to see people doing their own project work on it. I too am looking at producing a custom chassis (for personal use).

I am aware of the weak chassis area at the rear and will make it solid if I'd go for a plastic prototype. I am still hoping to get an affordable aluminium chassis though.
The longitudinal placement of the battery has now been integrated, see new pictures. Now you would be able to use everything, from stick packs to square Lipos.
Quotes for production are starting to come in and it seems that the price would be far away from something you might be able to sell... I also thought about the plastic side pods combined with an aluminium chassis plate. But I did like the Motogo Seiki DMX 410 alu chassis a lot. So I will first focus on the monocoque version.
The wheelbase is +11 - this is what I am running at the moment and it feels good for me.

Reconsidering after receiving a few quotes...
Sometimes if not always rethinking something is never wrong.
I think I am quite close to a final product now. Aluminium prototypes should be here due next week.

Either a factory made or your own alloy chassis with plastic side pods will be the way to go. Making the side pods the right size to match the length would be cool, but if you're not using your own chassis, making them the stock size to use the chassis included spacers would make it very versatile. Just the side pods, battery strap and needed hardware for a nice price would be really cool to try, I might be tempted. Seems like everything is shorty or saddle pack these days, the new AE car doesn't even take stick packs.

Just a short update - the sidepods have been machined and shipped, should arrive by today or tomorrow. I will fit them to a chassis before I send them for anodizing and post am image here asap...
