Default Cougar SV gearing

Could someone suggest what size pinions/spurs would work with a LRP X12 7.5 motor?

Would be useful to get some ordered up now so it's here when the car arrives.

Me & Si have both been running 24/83 outdoors on Speed Passion 6.5/7.5's. I'm not sure what Grant has been running but I'm sure mike will be able to tell you when he sees this.

With 23/33 external ratio gears I think the overall ratio is 2.6:1, so the same as a B4 gearbox

Grants is running Nosram Pearl Evolution ISTC with a Nosram Pure 7.5 , plenty fast on 24/83 with standard internal gearing, and running cool.

I would say higher, 25 at least.

Is 80T the smallest Schumacher offers? Thats too big to get the right gearing for spec racing here in the states.

Perhaps AE spurs fit depending on pad size? I know Kyosho fits Ae and Vice versa. Could try with both spur and pads from Ae.

In some CAT SX threads it was mentioned that AE spurs fit ith the centre hole expanded to 8mm. Pad size seems to be the same.

To answer Kwiksi then. Use Ae spurs and expand the centrehole to 8mm. Also use Ae pads.

I have had no problems with the Schumacher stuff, just use it
And no hassle with buy this or that, make the hole larger, jump on one foot and blow your horn when finished, dialled

I think the problem is not the quality but rather the size of the Schumacher spurs. For stock motors, you'll need spurs in the lower 70s.

What ratio do you need for stock motors?

Yes exactly. For example on my previous buggy...RB5SP w/2.6 internal. I used 72/30 for a 17.5. I may have to use AE spurs and drill center, but I hate to ruin spurs if they don't come out right.
Here are some starting suggestions that I have gathered for diff. mfr's starting points. An 80T is too big to get these ratios.

Epic cans
6.0:1 to 6.5:1 for 17.5
7.5:1 to 7.0:1......13.5

LRP can
5.5:1 for 17.5
6.5:1 .....13.5

Speed Passion
4.6:1 to 6.0:1 for 17.5
4.8:1 to 6.0:1......13.5

Novak
6.5:1 for 17.5
7.0:1......13.5
