as fare as i can remember back you always had to marshal straight after your race, well for the last 15-20 years as i know of,and obviously you should take the bug back, you must have used it straight after someone so you have to give it back for someone else to use it,the reason there strict on this is it holds up the meeting and drags it out,and im sure you weren't shouted at,???i have been to york many many times always had a right laugh,

York is one of the most relaxed clubs around but also relies a bit on people doing the right thing with transponders and marshalling etc. The "officials" are trying to race themselves, run the timing machine etc etc so have a lot to do without holding peoples hands.

First few times racing again is about making mistakes and learning these things. On my first time at York I forgot to take the transponder out of the car in the last race and took it home like a muppet

Put a 540 motor in the car if you want some competitive yet less daunting racing

Pete, sorry to hear you didnt enjoy yourself. I myself know how daunting it can be at first with lots of quick cars around. I think you must of been in my heat.. yellow rulux wheels?
If it was me i would put a 540 motor in and go from there, it certainly helps with your car control and makes for super close and enjoyable racing.
Dont feel afraid to ask someone if you dont understand something though

Ben

as fare as racing with better more experianced racers and you being afraid of getting in there way, if there that good they will drive around you, or you could have gone to race control and ask to be moved,

Don't be put off mate. I'm the clown who races with a SCT but I still enjoy myself. I too try to keep out of other racers' way but that's only while I improve myself.

It's just like being the new kid at school. Come back next week and get stuck in. I'd agree with the comments on joining the 540 class. It's a lot less daunting.

When I first started at York I got put in with the fast guys by mistake and it is the stuff of nightmares. I still get a bit spooked now when I'm in the A final, even tho I finished 4th

Mobile Chicane.

Thing is, given how cumbersome it is, it is actually quite easy to bump out of the way.
