Do you know anybody near you with a hotwire and pc ??? May be worth trying to see if there's recognises your RX8.

Unfortunately not

I've tried two versions of the software and it's the same with both.

Thanks

So, what your saying now is, When you turn your speedo on, the fan goes round but you have no throttle or steering ?? Are you able to hold down the mode button and get it into calibrating mode ??

.....and when you connect it to the hotwire, it just sits on 'connect speedo' ?

Hi mate

If i install a battery and turn it on, the receiver lights up, the fans spins on the rx8, and the steering works fine, there is no sound, lights or anything from the rx8 and the throttle does nothing. if i press and hold the mode button; nothing happens, also nothing happens if i hold both buttons down, which i understand should reset the rx8.

if i connect it to the hotwire, the hotwire has a small light on it and the fan spins on the rx8, but the software on the pc doesn't see the rx8 as being connected.

Thanks

<edit>
I don't think it gave me a choice in upgrading the firmware, i connected it to the pc to configure it and it said it was too old and needed updating.

That's correct, with the exception of the fan spinning, there's nothing at all from the esc but everything else seems normal.

The only thing that comes to mind is firmware corruption in the esc, to the extent that it doesn't communicate with the hotwire device. this could account for the esc not responding when connected to the hotwire, and when it's turned on normally.

preying i don't have to send it back, if i end up with a replacement i'll have all the agro and expense of getting it soldered up again.

Cheers

Go onto the Tekin website and get a returns form, fill it in with the RMA number and send it off to the guys at RC Disco with as much info as you can regarding the problem etc.

Default Tekin RS Pro

A friend of mine has the rs pro but not the hotwire usb interface.
We have both had a go at setting up the esc but neither of us can get either the drag brake or the main brake to work.

His radio is an acoms 40Mhz stick set.
Does he need the hotwire device to make the brake work ?
We have both tried to set the brakes manually with no success.

Help/advice much needed as he has spent a lot of money on this thing for it not to work.

No you dont need the hotwire to set the brakes, it just gives you finer increments (1% instead of 10% blocks.) Are you saying your car has no brakes at all ??? ie. free wheels when you apply brakes ?

Cheers guys,
lets hope we can sort this out.

It calibrates ok with the Tx,
the car is a cat 2000,
with drag brake set to max and brake set to max neither of them work.
It just free-wheels.
After doing a factory re-set and trying to set the brakes again as per the manual,
still no brakes !
I have tried it with a 2.5 turn non sensored tekin redline and also a 6.5 tekin sensored motor.

it was bought from a forum user on here.
I'm not going to mention names on here though.

It has had this problem since my friend bought it,is no brakes a common fault ?

it sounds like it really needs to go on the hotwire and see what the settings are on there, is the best I can advise.

Never really sure until you can see it on a screen. Maybe a firmware uppgrade/downgrade may help, But again, you would need a hotwire for that.
