I have tried two different Tekin motors,
a 2.5 turn Tekin unsensored motor.
A 6.5 turn Tekin sensored motor.

Both motors work fine on my Castle mamba max pro, either sensored or unsensored.

I know there was a lack of 'braking' on the original software, I don't think yours is a 'hardware' problem, just needs hooking up to a hotwire, new software put on and setup and your problem should be sorted.

Thanks for your help,
I was hoping it wouldn't need the hotwire to sort out,
my friend won't want to throw more cash at this ESC
in case it turns out to be fecked.
A lot of money to waste on a duff speedo.

Hopefully someone at the car club with a hotwire will
be able to help and take a look at it for him.

Cheers.

you may have a team driver local to you to get it updated, if not, I am sure someone on here would be willing to update it for you.

The esc isn't "fecked" unless it doesn't work. If you don't have a hotwire there's a few things to still check for. First is make sure that the brake strength is set all the way to 100%. You can do this without a hotwire. 2nd is make sure it's getting a proper radio calibration and that your mates transmitter has any ABS function turned off.

Hi Randy,
the Tx is a simple 40Mhz Futaba Attack stick set.
With no ABS functions.
We followed the setting instructions in the manual,
calibration appeared to be fine.

Testing the ESC with a motor connected showed progressive throttle
response as the LED's lit up until full power was reached.
Also progressive brake up to full brake as the LED's lit up.

With the motor,ESC connected up and installed in the car,
the car would run up to full throttle but when the brakes were applied
either fully or partially no brake effect would happen.

Even when drag brake was set to full,no brake effect would show as the throttle reached neutral.
The car would just free wheel.

Many thanks for your time and help Randy.

Paul.

Paul, if you want to send it to me, you are more than welcome, then I can either confirm whether the brakes work or not.

Interesting. I don't have a 40mhz to test with unfortunately. Can you test this esc on the steering channel for me?

Paul.
A friend, RickRick on here had what sounds like the same problem, no brakes, it happened when he upgraded to 208 software, when he went to 212 the problem went away. So as has been said finding someone with a Hotwire could be a good bet.

Will do.
My friend is bringing his rc gear round to my house tonight,
so I'll be able to test using.
Futaba 40Mhz
Acoms 27Mhz,and 40 Mhz
Futaba 35Mhz
Spectrum 2.4 Ghz
Acoms 2.4 Ghz

I'll let you know when I have the results.
(I've just found out he's either borrowed or bought a hotwire usb)
I'll give you all an update later tonight.

Thank you Randy,HarlowS,DCM and ianjoyner.

(Edit,he doesn't have the hotwire yet.
Any how,we tried all the above radio/rx set ups above and the same results from all radio's.
It's got to be an ESC setting/software issue somewhere.
We'll have to wait until the hotwire arrives)

Thank you Randy,HarlowS,DCM and ianjoyner.

The hotwire arrived yesterday,
the 212 update was put into the ESC.

It works.
Thank you all for helping and being patient.

Paul.

Alfonzo, yes, you can hook up any brushless motor to the R1Pro and the RS, the major difference is, the RS can use the Sensor harness. Yes, if you have the hotwire, you can connect the R1 to your laptop, update the firmware, have much finer adjustments to the different adjustments too.
I'm still a little confused. So can the Pro run sensored motors, or just the RS? Is the Pro better spec? (in terms of resistance, etc). I want the option to run both sensored and sensorless if possible.

the RS and RS Pro can run both sensored and sensorless motors, the R1 can run both but only in sensorless mode.

Not sure about pinion mate, but the rest I can do

Dual Mode
Neutral Width - 8
Brake Strength - 100
Min Brake - 10
Min Throttle - 0
Throttle Profile - 3
Timing - 80
start/end rpm - default
Limiter - 85-90
Reverse Strength - 0

Gearing depends on the track, I am on between 9.4 to 9.8:1

Hope thats a help[ Glen.

Sounds sensible, only things I change are:

Min Brake - 0
Throttle Profile - 2 or 3

Pinion - start on a 23, work from there.
