Default ROUND 2 - DUNFERMLINE - TRACK INFO

Dunfermline District Radio Car Club
& NORA (Northern Off-Road Arena)

ARRIVAL
Access to the site is via a forestry road, you must drive slow as many people walk there dogs in the adjacent woods. There is plenty of space so please be considerate to others around the site. The site is a working farm with other people requiring access, our neighbour is a moto x track which is being rebuilt for corporate use, and this can be busy on a Sunday when operational.

LOCATION
The track is located (KY5 0AN) approximately 25 miles North of Edinburgh, driving time from Edinburgh is roughly 45 minutes.

Driving Directions : Once you approach the Forth Road Bridge, most of the road is either Motorway (M90) or Dualcarriageway (A92) until the last 2 mile. When on the A92 you should take the second slip road marked for Lochgelly, at the top of the slip road turn right (cross back over the A92 Dual Carriageway) and follow the B9149. You will stay on this road for approximately 2 miles, you should pass a very obvious “S” bend with large houses and farm surrounding it. Continue along the B9149 until you reach a long straight road with open field on right, and a forest on the left. Set back from the road slightly is a single bar green gate which allows access to the forest road that leads to the farm. Go down the forest track, when you get to the cross roads go straight over, we are just down to the right past the moto x track.

Please drive slowly on the approach to the track and be aware that we are on a working farm, as well as a popular dog walking area.

THE TRACK
The track is 100% grass with various features (small & large); the track will be a brand new layout as we just rebuilt it for the 2014 season. The following pictures were taken only a few months after rebuilding the track, the grass has now fully recovered ready for another season. We regularly hold regional meetings on the track as well as a number of club meetings throughout the year.

We have used this land now for 3 years, and have had no issues with drainage, we have installed surrounding drainage to prevent the rain water coming down the field onto the track.

The tyres to use in the dry are Schumacher Yellow Mini Spikes and when the track is wet/damp Ballistic Buggy green Mini Spikes. We have a large rostrum currently accessible via a single set of steps, but hopefully for 2015 we will have dual stairs.

Race control is situated in a dedicated container with a full view of the track.

We also have two containers available for pitting, plus a 3rd container available. We have car parking adjacent to the track.

DOGS
Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times and you MUST tidy up after your dog.

The post code takes us to the red dot but the track is further up by the motor cross track so can we just carry on up the A92 and come off by that or we gotta go round the back?
Northy look where the A92 sign is on my pic that looks like the track

I'm not from the Dunfermline club but have been there. I've added a crappy sketch to show the position of the track on the map. Set your 1:1 cars ride height to max and go down a spring rate or 2 for the forestry road......lol.

Might be an idea to signpost the way? Will there be an air compressor trackside?

The post code takes you to the red dot in the image below, follow the road round and you will see a green gate that leads to a unpaved road(will also have a sign next to it) follow that road for about a 900m and you will see the track.

What time would you like access from on the Friday.

Chances are we will be at the track most of the day, so as long as we know what time you are arriving it should not be a problem. I believe some are planning to arrive from 4pm, but if anyone wants to arrive earlier just let me know on here.

Your correct track is up by the A92 sign.

Where the red dot is, is a very obvious S bend, once you are through this keep going and you will go round a 45deg right bend, then the road opens onto a straight. About half way along there is open field on right, and forest on left. The entrance is set back from the road but you are turning into the forest, green gate is entrance. We should have a sign at the entrance as well.

Once you going up the forest track you will come across a crossroads, straight over, then you come across the moto x track as shown in the picture, pass this about 100 meters over the brow of the hill and you will see the track.

This is one of those post codes you have to follow instructions as well as your sat nav, stick to the road shown and you will come in from the correct side, follow your sat nav blindly and you'll still get there but probably from the top side and driving through a farm.

If anyone is not sure just ask.

We should have a sign out showing entrance from main road.

Yes, there will be a compressor.

I've highlighted the road from Colin's picture above, this should make the road clearer from when you come off the A92 Dual Carriageway.

Have a look at the food info top of page, the pub explorer links to a nice establishment. It's only a couple of miles from track. Basically you come out of track, turn left towards Kirkcaldy, end of road turn left, at round about 2nd exit (3rd exit takes you into retail park where you have McD's, KFC Sainsbury etc, fuel here as well) which will take you up towards A92 again. Just before you reach roundabout over A92 the pub is on left, if you go past it just go round the roundabout.

Let me know what sort of food you are looking for and can maybe better advise.

If anyone is looking for a supermarket as they approach the track, there is a Tesco at South Queensferry (just before Forth Road Bridge), Asda at Dunfermline (start of A92) and a Sainsbury 2 miles west of track in Kirkcaldy. Fuel and food available at all 3 if you need to stock up for the weekend.

Default Arrival and camping

I'm aiming to arrive around 4ish or just after, all going well. I'm bringing a frame tent and gazebo, will there be an area marked off for the people staying at trackside for the weekend.

Thanks

Paul

Just a quick update.

We hoped to have a marquee but unfortunately after a mix up on sizes it looks like that wont be happening.

Camping will be available as well, and we have a limited number of caravan spaces available. Unfortunately it will not be possible to put awnings up as the ground is hardstanding.

It would help if we could get an idea how many are camping trackside, and importantly if you will be bringing a caravan, spaces are limited.
