Usually it's like this:

High pitched (smooth) whiny noise = Slipper
High pitched noise with screeching tones in it = Diff

However, if your diff is very loose, your diff might sound a lot like the slipper clutch. Therefore, check that your diff gear 'can't' (needs a lot of effort) to slip between the two outdrives. This picture (link) depicts the check.

When building the diff. Make sure you install the thrust washers correctly.

Just wondering: How much grease did you put in the diff? Also, are you sure the slipper pads and disks are clean and degreased? Also, don't worry too much tightening the diff further: I recall I run mine about 1/2 - 1 turn from fully tightened (that is with ceramic diff balls by the way).

I would recommend putting 2 shims on before the slipper assembly.

put 1 or 2 5x7x0.2 shims on before you put the slipper plates.

TD709015 works well for this.

I have seen this problem before on some cars and its fixed with these 1 or 2 shims

Hope that helps
