Iso, are you sure this is the case? Please double check as I think its more like 3.175mm, still if you are correct then these are what we need. Now what about the thrust race?

Yes I need to know for sure too as I want to order enough diff and thrust race balls to build four diffs so would hate to get the wrong size parts!

the sets i have bought all over the world have had 3mm in less they come from the states since so much easier to find 1/8 and they fit they have just replaced them with them. I have bought new diffs from america and they have had the 3 mm balls in them so im pretty sure. Since they both fit and the extra spacing the 1/8 balls give makes the front diff sitt a little better in the front diff housing at least my last front gearbox was very spaceious. Yes there are pulleys that uses 3/32 balls but one can say that they are rare special pulleys in the end of the zxs evo line i think you welsh may have some. I do also have diffs with 3/32 balls but they are diffs made for the TF2/3/4 line so they have outdrives in plastic even kyosho have outdrives in delrin i can get the part number if anyone are interested. 1/8 or 3mm just take the ones that are easier to find regarding the trust race, dont have a clue but i can check when i get to my parents house. mvh isobarik |

Iso have a check and see otherwise associated thrust race or kyosho zx5 may be the answer.
Yes my zxs did run smaller diff balls and the out drives were protos, which are ruined but will when i can afford it have a couple of sets machined. The diff quality made the zxr diffs obsolete, super smooth with zero slip.

Just bought some ceramic 3mm balls. Got six large ceramic bearings for the diffs and layshaft, and hope to get the hubs ceramic bearings next month. Just need the correct size for the thrust race. I dug out my atlas thrust race and are the size of a pen tip. Im tempted to get associated thrust.

So can we confirm that the LA-4 diff balls that the Lazer ZX/X-R and Mid diffs take are 3mm? Where did you source the balls and the ceramic bearings from?

Iso,
What do you reckon, 1/20 size thrust race balls, ive measured the standard version and are 3mm as you said, but the thrust were there as well so measured and are fractionally larger than 1mm so guessing its more 1.2 so 1/20 appears to be the size. Only one way of finding out and thats if I buy a set and try them.

James, where did you source the larger bearings for the diffs and layshaft?

Ebay worldwide and are acer bearings, size is in the manual and rclazy dont appear to be around anymore so advise finding all diffs balls elsewhere.

They were smaller, as ive measured ones still new and in packet and are just aver 1mm from left to right. The zx5 is 1/16 however am going to dismantle my b2 diff to see the size difference and decide which way to go.
