Grip level of the track

I was really disappointed with the level of grip of the track last night. It seems to have got progressively worse over the last few weeks. I wasn't the only one who noticed this.


It has gotten to the point where on road cars are undrivable. The setup I used would traction roll at the first corner on a different carpet track.


What is causing it? The excessive dust/fibres? Build up of tyre additive?

Has this contributed to a decline in on road competitors? Where have the Broxtowe mini guys gone?


It would seem that unless you are running pin spikes or foams the racing degrades into an 'accidental' drift competition.

The carpet was fully hoovered last night before racing started, the one downside to leaving it down is that it needs regular cleaning.

Don't know where the Broxtowe lads are, last week there were loads of racers, this week less, perhaps the weather or football takes preference?

On a few areas of the track my car was hopping sideways it had that much grip, i.e. where the table top usually is for the offroad guys.

The rest of the track, grip was non existent.

I may have to rethink my approach to the track and try some rally blocks for some bite.

There's no denying that a lack of on road racers will cause a lack of additive on the track which then gives a lack of grip.

It seems to be a nationwide thing that on road is not as popular as buggies, one day it will swing back I'm sure (the new schumacher Supastox will see to that) but yes maybe the tyres you mentioned would be the way to go.

The carpet that is used at the club is very high quality Prima gt as far as I am aware and cost thousands originaly.
It came from sharly park so was originaly used for 1/12 pan car so there should be no problem there.



I think the problem is it takes time for the additive to build up over the night and bring up the grip levels.
And with the smaller amounts of onroad at moment then there's less additive going into the carpet.

Every clubs carpet with have the same issues as far as I am aware.
Even when I raced 1/12 you started on different compound then as grip came up went to another one to compensate.
Other than that I hope you are still having fun racing

I think I'll try some foam tyres just on the rear to tame the back end.
