Gearing SV2
What pinion are most people running on thd SV2? I am on s 10.5t motor and using a 21t pinion, and the speedo is getting red hot. Suggestions?

I run a 6.5 and use a 22 or 23 so I'd say you are very under geared. If it was me I'd be going for a 25

I ran 10.5 last year in Dublin, I used a 76t spur with 28t pinion. This was on the Cougar SV.

OK, thanks for this. Looks like I was way out, no wonder the ole speedo was getting upset!

I'd say a 28 to start with. I run 24-25/78 on a 6.5.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Just to make clear, putting more teeth on the pinion should reduce the amount of acceleration, and thus reduce the stress on the motor, and thus less heat?

Not quite that simple with brushless, if you go to far under or over geared the motor and speedo will get hotter than it should.
