Default WANTED - MAN IN A SHED THAT DOES COSMETIC SURGERY

So I have got an RC10 off a very nice chap from this forum and many thanks to him.

The car is nearly 25 years old and as with all old girls she needs a bit of TLC

This mainly is for the chassis tub which had been painted gold at some point back in time.

Well she needs makeover to grace the circuits once again, does anyone know anyone with a sandblaster who can gently strip off the old paint back to the ali then I can get it re-anodised back to 1990 graphite black.

Need a few more classic parts this will be listed in the vintage wanted section.

Thanks in advance for any response

25 year old aluminium, in unknown condition, of unknown grade? (and not very thick)

I'd be using something a bit less aggressive! (You'll find many local media blasters with a quick google or scan of the yellow pages.)

Based in Manchester, plenty of metal finishing companies but all a bit on the large side, (and not that interested when you call them) tried stripping the metal with car paint thinners, takes the top coat off but not the primers will try acetone tonight see if that works

lots of sorts of media blasting just seeing if anyone has done it before or knows anyone

I've done loads and loads over the years, but not really in a position to help (or point you in the direction of someone who could either!)

Default blasting and anodizing

there is a company called Poetons in Cardiff.(wouldn't thought much to send in post).they do sand blasting and anodizing and many other electro processing, i.e gold ,silver, and chrome plating. but I do think they have a minimum order of £40.very professional as they do a lot for the RAF and well know vacuums cleaner manufactures.

Have a look for Soda blasters in your area, this is a much milder abrasive than sand blasting.
If you can wait till the end of November I can do this for you when I go back to finland

Cosmetic update

Stripped the chassis, filled and sanded, primer, wet sand, base coat on, wet sand tomoz night, further coats, wet sand + lacquer and set sand, + polish, would have been cheaper to buy a new one but wheres the fun in that!

This old girl is a money pit.
