Default X11 Brushless Motors

I'm looking at getting a new brushless motor for my 2WD off road car for next year. Last year I used my 4 star brushless motor from my 1/12 car in some meetings, it was ok in dry high grip conditions but too fast if it was damp or low grip.

Looking at getting a 3 star and noticed the new lrp x11 motors. Are these motors just a newer design with more torque? Would I be right in saying a 6.5 is the same as a 3 star. Will this new x11 motor be suitable for off road?

Yes, the old 3 star motors were 6.5 turns.

So should I get the new X11 6.5 or will that be too fast for 2WD, should I get the 7.5 instead?

This is all very confusing . I'm I right in thinking that a 1* that was is now a 7.5 and 4* is now a 4.5? If so I can work out the rest .

The other issue I'd like some info on is the differences between the X9 and X11. Is it something to do with sintered magnets. I didn't think they were legal. So does that mean I should buy the X9's.

I just don't want to spend money on hardware that I won't be able to use at BRCA meetings.

( on a different note does anyone know of a model shop in the northwest that stocks xxx cr parts? )

Based on information from the LRP website and 2007 catalogue (http://www.lrp-electronic.de):

X9 spec:

1* (8.5) = 225W
2* (7.5) = 242W
3* (6.5) = 263W
4* (5.5) = ???W

(I'm not 100% sure I've got the number of winds correct for the X9 motors above).

X11 spec:

7.5 = 291W
6.5 = 332W
5.5 = 393W
4.5 = 528W (sintered magnet)

It's difficult to compare directly as although in principle they may have the same number of turns, the X11 motors are 2nd generation technology and therefore able to produce more power for the same configuration.

All are BRCA legal, although the X11 4.5 won't be until 1st April 2007 due to its sintered magnet (the rest use bonded).

Can't help with the modelshop I'm afraid.

Forgot to say, but with the X11 motors the general consensus seems to be 7.5/6.5 for 2wd and 6.5/5.5 for 4wd.
