Default 2012 BRCA SE 4WD Regional Championship RD2 - Sunday 20 May - Plough Raceway

As the title says, Round 2 (of 4) of the 2012 SE 4WD Regional Off-road Championships. As per usual there will also be an Open class to cater for drivers from outside the SE Region and those wishing to run a 2WD around. Also if enough turn up there may also be availability for Short Course/Stadium Trucks to run but without scoring points. More details here: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95195

To be held at Plough Raceway off-road facility on Sunday 20 May 2012.

Track WILL NOT open until approx. 08:30 for practice so please DO NOT arrive too early! The track is on private land at the rear of The Plough Inn, Leigh who we do not want upset by excessive early noise, thank you!

NB - PLOUGH RACEWAY HAVE ACQUIRED THEIR OWN TIMING EQUIPMENT, HOWEVER THEIR VERSION DOES NOT SUPPORT PERSONAL TRANSPONDERS AND DRIVERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE THE CLUBS HAND-OUT TRANSPONDERS SO PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY MOUNTING HOLE FOR THIS UNIT!

See you all there (maybe!), don't forget FREE entry for ALL Juniors, U13's and U16's.

Oh and don't forget your BRCA Membership details please, Membership application forms will be available for non-members to join on the day!

The Plough is a delightful, 16th-century country pub, which enjoys a quiet location set back from the main road, yet within easy reach of the main transport links. The quaint building is of a traditional, local style with very ornate, original window-panes. There is a well-maintained, private garden outside which is great for al fresco drinking and eating in the summer!!

Address: Leigh Road, Hildenborough, Nr. Tonbridge, Kent TN11 9AJ

Located directly on the B245, just a couple of miles northwest of the centre of Tonbridge

How to find the Plough pub: - If you are coming from Tonbridge, head for Hildenborough (B245). You will see Leigh & Penshurst signposted on the left hand side opposite the Flying Dutchman pub. Take this left turn (once on this road DO NOT take the first right signpost for Leigh), keep going straight ahead. Under railway bridge the road will narrow but keep going. The road can be a bit narrow and windy. There is a sharp bend to the right with another lane going straight signposted for the Powder Mills - follow the road to the right and shortly after this the Plough. The car park entrance is just before the pub.
If you're coming from north of Sevenoaks along A21, take exit off A21 for Sevenoaks and Hildenborough and head for Hildenborough (B245). You will eventually (about 2 or 3 miles down that road) see the Flying Dutchman on the left with a road off to the right signposted Leigh/Penshurst. NOTE: There is a road to the right before this one which is signposted for Leigh and Penshurst but please make sure you keep going until you see the Flying Dutchman.

AFAIK there is no control tyre for the SE Region.
Given the amount of rainfall we've had recently, I'd say anything that floats might be worth a punt

Seriously - Schuey Yellows have always been a safe bet if its dry - though the track might turn towards a green or a silver later on.
BB minispike Greens will feel safe - especially whilst there is grass on the track but if the surface gets stripped, they might begin to struggle although if it's wet, they might be a better all round tyre???

I ran Losi Silvers there last year in 2WD (yes they are commercially available) and whilst the bump absorption was first class, they lacked the sidebite that a Schuey tyre offered so ultimately, there was very little in it in terms of actual pace.

Much will depend on what the rain gods choose to do between now and Sunday I fear

Hi Andy

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't the brca reginals sanctioned events and if so rule 23.11 should apply. And this rule was also adopted when we raced at Kent last time.

please clarify what rule is none of us want to waist money on the wrong tyre

Stu

Hi Stu,
You're asking the wrong guy.

Like I said in my post - as far as I know there has been no control tyre in the SE region until now - at least not at the meetings I've attended but I'm not a BRCA official so I can't answer you I'm afraid - I'm just a member like you - but one who had to look up rule 23.12 to find out what you were referring to

I was just posting up a response to help a fellow racer

If you're concerned -its probably best to ask Steve for clarification.

But lets just postulate that 2 control tyres are ruled on - just like at the Nationals - but there's still no ruling that limits the number of pairs being run per day or the compounds of said tyres. (Or at least there isn't at the national BRCA sanctioned events.)
I have to carry Schumacher Yellows, Green and Silvers at every national now along with BB Greens, Whites and even Pinks (in some cases). And even then - I couldn't legislate for 1 run per set of tyres last weekend like the fast guys were doing.

The question was generalised for the answer as you know I don't do big events and myself and others would like to keep cost down but also be competitive

And the info you supplied is spot on.

Over to you Steve

Also steve what is the fitting for the non personnel transponder and can we mount in the wing and assuming if it fails or comes off/out will our laps be counted manually.

Stu

As Nath says - Well done to Poults for the TQ and win. Nath gets special prize for the most amount of miles done in a day Commitment to the cause fella - glad your dad is home and recuperating.

Today proved there's life in the old warhorse yet - and my XX-4 didn't fair too bad either

Well done to everyone who had fun today - it was a great meeting today - thanks to everyone.

Just like to echo the above, great days racing. Big thank you to Steve Andrews and his very small crew of merry men who put in so many hours of work to get this venue up and running.

Also a big well done to Simon Cook for running the meeting today, spot on job mate

Not a bad turn out at all today, and great to see so many FORCC drivers making the journey outside to play. Big well done to the winners of all their respective finals.

Hope to see you all at the next regional which happens to be ours oops

Kind Regards,
Alan

PS. Was great to see the biggest cheer of the day came at drivers briefing when Simon announced that our gracious leader Steve would not be in attendence today, don't worry Steve it was all in jest, we all love you and understand you're a busy man at the moment sorting out some small event that's happening this summer, good luck mate, hope to see you back very soon

yeap, big thanks to Steve and Simon. Smooth day and a really good track. Some nice corners and features in there and the surface held up really well with no random holes appearing. All the hard work is reaping the rewards now.

Sorry to Ross for stamping on your car. I'll try harder next time to snap it!! lol

Good to feel the love.....NOT!!!

Pleased to hear that everything went well and you all had a good day! I was thinking of you all! Tremendous effort put in by Steve A, his family, Simon and others and even I did have a little bit of input myself right up to late last night!

I'll update the Championship tables once I've got my hands on the results from Simon.....that is if you still want me to do them!

Awww bless, poor Steve is feeling unwanted, don't worry Steve, I'm sure the Rep job is safe in your hands

Many thanks to all involved in the running of the meeting yesterday including all the people that helped prepare the track!!!

Congrats to Dave Poulter for the win, we all tried our hardest to get on your pace but it was not possible, and it didn't help me as I had my team drivers taking me out and running into me and breaking my car

I'm really looking forward to the next round at FORCC, and it's minuets from my house
