Default BRCA SE 1:10 Off-Road Regional Calendar 2013

Here we go again!

Following around-the–table discussions between all BRCA affiliated 1:10 electric off-road clubs, myself and subsequent feedback from FORCC (Faversham Off-Road Car Club,http://www.forcc.co.uk/), Plough Raceway, EPR (Eden Park Raceway, http://www.edenparkraceway.com/), Maritime Racing (http://www.maritimeracing.info/) and Barham RCT (http://www.teambrct.co.uk/) please see finalised BRCA SE 1:10 Off-Road Regional calendar for 2013.

All dates are Sunday's!

2WD
28 April 2013 Maritime Racing
12 May 2013 Eden Park Raceway
14 July 2013 Plough Raceway
25 August 2013 Barham RCT

4WD
21 April 2013 Maritime Racing
09 June 2013 Plough Raceway
07 July 2013 Eden Park Raceway
04 August 2013 Barham RCT

As you can see, we welcome Maritime Racing and Barham RCT into the BRCA SE Regional Series this year!

As you will also see Faversham Off-Road Car Club have made the tough decision not to participate in the 2013 Regional series and would like to take this opportunity to explain, here’s a statement from the FORCC Committee.

‘For those that haven’t heard, Faversham will not be holding Regionals this year (or for the foreseeable future). There’s no great conspiracy to the decision and it has nothing to do with any other clubs, venues or people involved with the South East Region. The simple fact is that we (The FORCC) are giving up our outdoor venue at Dunkirk. We enjoyed our time up there but are unable to commit the time and resources needed to maintain such a large grass venue. Without an outdoor venue it obviously makes it difficult to hold outdoor events so there will be no FORCC Summer Series either. There has been some chatter as to whether we are simply moving to Barham/BRCT. We are not, but we are supporting them while they are finding their feet so don’t be surprised if you find a few of the FORCC crew helping out.

We may well be involved in a couple of outdoor charity events this year and we will publicise those as and when dates are confirmed.

We would like to wish all the South East clubs, drivers and organisers all the best for the season ahead.

Jon Peters, Faversham Off-Road Car Club’

We thank FORCC for their previous participation in the Regional Series, they stepped in at a time when the Region was struggling to find sufficient clubs to run a Regional Series and many of their drivers have subsequently enjoyed success at both Regional and National levels and they were major contributors to the Regions success at BRCA End of Season Finals which we are hoping to continue this year and well into the future.

Here's looking forward to another exciting new season with an increasing number of competitors of all ages and abilities, as always everybody's welcome!
Watch out for more specific details about these events soon!

Also please keep a look-out for the BRCA 1:10 Off-Road South East Region web site (http://www.brca-southeast.co.uk/news.php) that Simon Cook is currently maintaining with as much information as he is supplied with!

Steven Brooke
BRCA 1:10 Off-road Section South East Regional Representative

Also keep checking the popular forums, websites and social media for some exciting events outside of the Regional series in the South East. Not least of which is the third round of the BRCA 1:10 National Series due to be held at Eden Park Raceway on the weekend of 25/26 May 2013. South East drivers are encouraged to go and have a look at most of the country’s best 1:10 electric off-road drivers, you could even think about entering yourself (there maybe places available though they may be few and far between!) or you could at least offer to help out at the host club, there will be lots of opportunities to get involved, just get in touch with the club if you are not a member but are interested in helping out!

FORCC will be participating in some local community events, as they have done so successfully in recent years, the details of which they have promised to let me know so that others can possibly get involved. Hopefully this year they will, once again, be involved with the Help for Heroes charity event that we have been to in recent years, should this event take place I would encourage drivers to attend, it’s a cracking day out!

Other events are also being planned by both Plough Raceway and at the relatively new 1:10 off-road facilities at Maritime Racing both of which will, no doubt, be announced on here as soon as dates and details become available!

Same as previous years, the 'unofficial' SCT/Truck (2WD) Championship will run on the same days as 2WD Regional's, providing, obviously, sufficient turn up to create a reasonably numbered heat.

Please keep an eye out for more details closer to the events.

Until now it's been simply a case of turn up on the day and pay your money John - no need to pre-book and no centralised booking point.

I'm not aware that anything has changed for 2013 but I'm sure Steve or someone will chime in if there have been changes.

Cheers

There should be at least a heat of the other class at each meeting unless this has changed.

What are the nominated tyres for the meetings I need to start to arrange for the season.

Stu.

Again, only so far as I'm aware Stu but there has never been any nominated or control tyre at the SE regionals. - certainly not in recent times but being a HCOV driver and not a true native, I might be wrong.

I'll lay my cards on the table now and say that I hope we don't end up having control tyres because it adds a layer of complexity for race directors and host clubs that I don't feel is necessary. With the exception of Barham, the venues are all known and so 'local' knowledge would dictate the obvious tyre choice.

EPR is likely to be Yellow minispikes in the dry and Silvers in the Wet.
Maritime either Yellow Minipins or Minispikes - either way the fast guys will get through the same number of tyres per meeting

Plough - Schumacher Yellows in the Dry with Ballistic Buggy Green Minispikes being a good all round choice for wet or dry.
I've used Losi Silver IFMAR studs at the Plough and they absorb the bumps well but don't offer the same bite that a Schuey tyre does.

Barham, I've no idea but perhaps some kind locals would chip in with good starting points. Otherwise, I'll be going armed with Schumacher Yellow and Silver Minispikes and Ballistic Buggy Green minispikes.

End of Season Finals and Nationals - fine, control the tyres. That's the BRCA rulings - but for actual regional meetings, my understand is that the tyres do not need to e controlled although some regions choose to do so.

There - may cards are laid out. I've lit the blue touch paper - now I shall retreat to a safe distance. Essex perhaps :-)

Over to you guys.

Thanks for the increased interest, good to see!

Andy's basically got the questions covered.

Booking-in will continue to be done on the day, most clubs already have extensive databases of drivers details, clubs should have had 2013 driver formulas but these will be re-circulated again pre-season just to make sure!

Quite simply, we do not have nominated tyres in the SE Region, again Andy has detailed those that we know about, though Schumacher have announced some new tyres just today!

BRCA End of Season Finals do have control tyres that will be listed on the entry forms.

The question about 2WD's is a little ambiguous! Yes we do ordinarily have an Open class at 4WD events, this is either for 2WD chassis' or drivers competing from other Regions. Equally, as per BRCA rules, you can use a 2WD buggy in a 4WD event, providing it makes the minimum 4WD weight limit.

And Gary, you think you've got problems, I'm now a 'Super' Veteran!

Hope this clarifies all

BRCA 1:10 Off-Road Section, centrally checked and varified 2013 Driver Formulas have now been re-circulated to ALL participating club representatives/Race Directors.

These will be used to update ALL driver databases as this forms the basis on which we sort heats at Regional events, though there maybe some manual sortation as the season progresses and championships start to take shape.

NB - ANY DRIVER NOT SHOWN ON THIS DATABASE HAS NOT PREVIOUSLY COMPETED AT REGIONAL NOR NATIONAL LEVEL AND WILL HAVE AN F5 FORMULA FOR 2013!

Not long now!
