laser eye surgery
Some of you may be considering having this done but not sure about it.
I,ve just had Lazek done on friday for the second time after 10 years (due to age deterioration) but only on my right eye this time. I first had it done to both eyes in 2001 when I was 41 but as you go through your 40,s your eyes natuaraly deteriate so I decided to go for it again. I had mine done at Ultralase and they are first class offering you aftercare for life. This second procedure was FREE of charge so they really do look after you. If your worried about it being painfull then dont, you do not feel a thing. They use drops to stop any feeling in your eye. The actual lasering took only took two bursts of 14 and 2 seconds and the only bad thing is the smell like burning hair but as I said no pain at all. You get a bandage contact lens to wear for 5 days after and drops to use as stated, and a patch to cover your eye at night so you dont rub it in your sleep. You should if male get your hair cut grade one as you must not get water in your eye while it heals so use a face cloth to clean your head and you will have to avoid washing dishes for two weeks so you dont get splashed. You may get some discomfort afterwards but they give you painkilling drops. I only felt a little discomfort about 2 hours after the procedure a bit like grit in the eye but it soon went with the drops. You will not be able to drive for a few days so will need a lift to and from the surgery and also need a good pair of wrap round sunglasses to keep wind and dirt out. With glasses costing £2-300 every year it pays for itself if its your first time and like I said its free aftercare for life including any further laser treatments. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. UPDATE 8/12/11 Had the bandage contact lens out yesterday (in for 5 days) and though my eye was a bit watery as it feels a bit gritty for about an hour when he lens comes out I could read the bottom line which is better than 20-20 vision and today its getting better. Its like hd vision and for me was well worth doing. Below is a video of how its done, I can assure you its completely painless. I did not feel a thing even the scraping the cells off .

hmmmm i had this done 10+ years ago, and a free second retreatment. Im now 44 and 2 years ago i had to have a cornea transplant due to the damage Lazer surgery had caused, this was painfull and 2 years on im still undergoing treatment to get me sight back in my left eye (only one i had treated thank god)
the more they do the thinner your cornea gets which can lead to it sagging or colapsing destroying your vision some do have success but many dont so dont assume "its safe" if it was they would not make you sign a disclaimer I have posted this reply not to scare but to give a balanced debate! pic of my eye after corrective surgery, yup there stitches and its bloody sore!

We'll I'm sure you had a bad time of it but I'm all for lazer treatment. I had mine done in 2004 by ultralase, it was the most expensive at the time, about a grand more than others offered, somethings it doesn't pay to do on the cheap. I have to say its the best thing I've ever spent money on.
Really changed my life, not having to worry about glasses, even improved my racing being able to see the track and car properly! Can't recommend it enough guys, if you're considering it just get it done. |

i can say my treatment was not a cheap or a budget outfit!
also show me where the companies put thier complaints or failures, odly the company who did mine would not put my results up (note im not which company saying as i was threatened with legal action!) to say just get it done is poor info, my advice would be do alot of research and get several assements done!

Before they did my second procedure they spent over an hour examining my eyes to be sure it would be ok and I was examined by a second eye specialist to check the recommendations were correct. They recommended just one eye be done so I could see long distance with one eye and short with the other so I would not need reading glasses.
I was checked again before going in and given a full breakdown of all the risks involved. As with any operation there are risks, nothing is 100% safe but Ultralase have performed many thousands of eye corrections so I felt safe with my decision. Sorry to hear yours went wrong Mark and I hope it turns out ok for you.

A few eye drops should sort that out. Less of the Vodka eye baths me thinks..... On a serious note, that look painfull. I'll stick with the contact lenses!! |

I've thought about getting it done before. I only use one eye at a time anyway so my vision is knackered. The mrs says I can get it done but I wouldn't look right without glasses.
I've accepted the fact that I need glasses so am happy to stick with it. My dad had his done and his is 100% fine, I just don't want to risk it. Hope they sort that eye out soon, I too have had stitches in the eye before, I was too young to notice, but if I look left, you can see the line where they were. |

well.........
I had laser on my eyes about 9 years ago and the wife had hers done 2 years ago.
I can only say, do it,..... amazing result,. i still have perfect vision after 9 years and hers the same but only 2. Clare (the wife) worked in an opticians for many years and was unsure before, now loves it... We both used Ultralase in Guildford/Burpham.......... Awsome place, great aftercare, but yes, damn expensive.... mine was £3000 9 years ago and hers just short of £5000,(still paying for it, damn women) But i recommend with out hesitation............... simple!!!!!
