Default What ESCs can I run Hobbywing software on

Since returning to RC ~5yrs ago I have been using Speed Passion ESCs (reventon pro 1.1) which I really liked as I could use the SP software on PC to set up and I had them really nice (for me). Now the SP software no longer works I bought a Hobbywing v2.1 120A which I also like and I am wondering do I get rid of all my SP or can I put the HW software onto the SP ESCs (I read differing opinions on this?).
Also, are there any other cheaper clones that will take HW software and work with HW multi function programme box?
Hope this makes sense

The Hobbyking XCAR range (60-120A) can be flashed with Hobbywing software. Cheap at £15-30. I run two of these, one is running a 6.5 in a 2WD.

Obviously depending on what version is on your prog box you'll need to flash that too or you get the "Please update firmware" message when you connect.

Thanks - I will look into those. Think I had the 45A xcar esc in my kids cars a few years ago but not tried the bigger ones. The 120 is currently on back order but I’ll try one when they come back into stock

For that price I’ll give it a try. I’ll let you know how it goes 😀
Cheers 👍

I got one and it connected to the Hobbywing app ok and I could flash the updates to it, but haven’t yet tried to run it as I wanted to put it into my rere Ultima, but when lockdown was announced I decided to run my Ultima for the last meet so put in a normal HW120 as I knew it would work (I had soldered the ESC to a Hobbywing 10.5t only to discover the mounting holes on the motor are slightly differently spaced to my SP motors and didn’t fit the motor plate in the Ultima so rather than removing motor I simply swapped out the electronics until I had more time)
Will try to test it over the next week or 2 and report back

I ran it at Manor on indoor carpet, pretty much out of the box and I loved it. What RC should be. Loads of cornering, fun to drive, looks great. In fact, the reason I enjoy RC!
(Yok is there as I needed to transfer my transponder)
