What class, 2wd or 4wd?

In 2wd leave the punch setting on either 1 or 2, for 4wd use 2 to 4 depending on conditions.

4wd settings (Orion 6.5 motor);

boost timing =16
TURBO timing = 14
Turbo delay = off
Turbo ramp rate 3deg/1000rpm
Turbo start revs = lowest

2wd settings (Orion 7.5 motor);

boost timing =10
TURBO timing = 18
Turbo delay = off
Turbo ramp rate 3deg/1000rpm
Turbo start revs = lowest

These feel really nice and smooooth but still have plenty of go.

Remeber that you can store upto 3 profiles on the ESC (when accessing them with the LCD program box). I normally have the above as my "STANDARD" setting, one with half as much boost timing but the difference added to the turbo timing as my "WET" and one with the boost setting 1.5 times and the turbo reduced by the same amount in degrees for "INDOORS" so you have plenty of punch on high grip carpet to clear the ma-hoooo-siv jumps that seem to be popular these days.

Hope that helps.

Its on a 2WD with a 7.5 and a 4WD with a 6.5

One other question is it best to run with stock software or the modified?

2wd - 7.5t Speed passion V3 - Stock software

4WD - 6.5t Losi - Modified software.

ALWAYS USE A MOD SOFTWARE WITH MODIFIED MOTORS!!!!!

The stock software will be too brutal but worse can lead to cooked mod motors due to the way the timing is used.

My gearing is;

2wd 25/78*2.6:1 = 8.112 (could probably go up a tooth on a big track)
4wd 23/78*2.5:1 = 8.478 (again on a big track a 24 is ok).

Be careful with going straight to those gearings though, always temp check the motor at about 2 mins then every min after that the first time you try and run one.
I recently killed my Orion 10.5 by trying to over gear it indoors, was my own fault though as if I had of checked at any point after the initial 2 minutes I'd have certainly stopped it ... was out there for about 10mins before it failed

Yes, 16deg of timing on "boost" .... boost is the normal timing that the speedo uses before going into turbo mode. Less makes the motors feel more linear and smoother but if you go down too much and try and recover this with lots of turbo you may find the motor becomes a bit jackel-n-hide in it's character.

Not a bad shout mate, I know a few running 8.5 VST motors and with the above settings they fly.

Looking for some Hobbywing settings for a TLR22.

First car (mine)

Hobbywing 120a 1s running LRP x12 8.5 at TORCH on Astro

Second car (10 year old sons)

Hobbywing Xtreme Stock running Hobbywing 13.5 at TORCH on Astro

Also what software should I be running on both.

Thanks in advance

Mark

I would recommend the 205MOD software with default settings on both to start with.

You can adjust punch and drag brake on that software to suit yourself, and gear it for the track.

You can also try one of the boosted softwares (930MOD for example), but these are complicated to setup and diminish the throttle feel. Not worth the effort in off-road in my opinion.

If it is a tight indoor track, there is no need for boost.

For the tourer I would run 508_NO_TIMING (blinky) with default settings, gear it for the track, and just tune the DRRS (punch) and drag brake to suit your feel.

For the buggy, I would run 205MOD, again with default settings, gearing for the track and tuning the punch and drag brake to suit you. You could probably run it on "blinky" like the touring car also.
