Default Losi XXcr fully restored RUNNER !!

Hi all,

Just thought I would share this !!

Purchased from a fellow Oopler. CONRAD !!

I have stripped and fully restored a Losi XXcr as a runner. Its exactly 20yrs since I returned to racing after a 4yr break. This is what I purchased on my return to racing from a model shop in Wolverhampton called JSracing........

So I thought it was the right time to restore a runner.

Its full XXcr with a few blue bits... Fitted to the runner is,

LOSI Kinwald blue motor plate
LOSI Kinwald blue wing buttons
LOSI Kinwald double pad slipper
LOSI Kinwald disc wheels
LOSI Threaded shocks
LOSI Graphite wishbones
TRINITY blue shock adjusters
TRINITY shock bushings
FANTOM blue front brace
FANTOM blue gearbox brace
XX Servo brace
MAN PINK Velcro to hold lipo.

I am currently masking up the body and will be painting tomorrow. Once finished I will post pictures of the XXcr RUNNER !!

Default Losi XXcr fully restored RUNNER !!

So the XXcr is finished. Just electrics to install and wheels and tyres.

Body finished and stickered up. I will mount tomorrow as needs to harden and will then tape inside. I will take a couple of body mounted shots....

The body was inspired by a drivers back in the day. I seen it on the internet and thought YES !! that looks awesome. So started it yesterday and finished it today.

Looking at these buggies today, there's just something about them. They just don't look the same today. Maybe its me, but I don't think it gets any better than this era of buggies......

I also filed the edges and polished the outside spring coils. I don't recommend this they took for hours.

Great job, xfactor!

It's not just you, not many modern cars i do like from looking at them, but most of the vintage one do.
Haha, it looks like, we are getting to old....

Body taped and fitted. Wheels and tyres fitted. Lipo fitted.

I have seen this question asked so many times, so thought I would share what I do.

The question is, ( what to use on your new painted body on the inside).

I use faskolour paints and as so many know its water based. So I use a proXL lacquer after painting the shell. This gives a hard finish and as of yet not had a body react to the lacquer.

I leave over night to go hard, then tape the inside. I use cricket bat tape. Off ebay £1.69 for approx. 5m-10m roll. The reason I use this is,

1. Water proof
2. Sticks well
3. Very light
4. Never had a problem with it.
5. Value for money.

I know other racers use different products, but this works for me with no issues......

I have put pictures up of the inside of the body, just so you can all see and if it helps some one BONUS !!!.

So just the electrics to install and then the track.............

Default Body Mounting.

Hi Daz,

I always when mounting a buggy shell start at the rear.

With all XX shells, the body is mounted from the rear. This is because of the rear tower/shocks and all xx shells are tight around the rear of the shock tower.

So fit the body at the rear first.

Then drop the front down. You can do 2 things.

1. Black grease on top of the mount, place the body on the mount and then you will have a black dot and a centre point.....

2. Drop the body on to the mount, then firmly push the body on to the mount, then you have a dent in the shell as a centre point.......

Hope that helps.........

Thanks for pointing me to this thread, it's my old colours you've seen which was thanks to Tony Evdoka! That she'll is still around as a guy Chris Payne bought the car from us late 90s when I switched to AE and he is hopefully selling it to me soon :-)
