Default Renault Grand Scenic Help Please?!!!

Fully serviced 2005 1.6 petrol. Been stalling when cold, fine after a couple of minutes.
Today though, check emissions comes up on the dash, engine not running right at all, definitely not running all cylinders correctly, engine management light on.
My reason for posting on here was i remember a similar thread, and a guy who worked as a renault technician was really helpful, pointed out a common fault, and saved someone a lot of coin!

You can guarantee it will be one of the individual coil packs. Remember tho they have to be changed as pairs. So either cylinder 1 and 4 or 2 and 3.

Ebay link for coil http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/renault-scenic...item2c5ab292e4

Thanks. Will I need to plug it in to diagnostics to find which one?
I remember the coil pack (or whatever vauxhall call them) as a fault on my 2 year old astra

hi been a renault technician for 5 years does sound like a dodgy coil, remove all 4 10mm bolts or the torx 30 screws start the engine and one by one only one at a time otherwise engine will stall, slowly lift coil out and see if its is contacting with the top of the spark plug.if it is check also that the coil is not arching through side of the casing onto the inside of the cylinder head, most people miss this and think that its sparking and its ok,if there is any sign of this arching this will definately cause a missfire,do the check on all 4 indivdual coils.
also for stalling problems remove and clean the throttle bodie with carb cleaner of oil deposits.
also check and this is from cold check in the morning listen out for a rattling that last only for a few seconds and dissapears if you here this is the dephaser camshaft pulley for the varible valve timing.
good luck hope this is of some help.

I worked for Renault UK for eight years and tend to agree with the above post common faults for misfiring are the coils best to replace them with the later beru coil alot better, but no need to replace them in pAirs DONT buy on eBay they don't last. throttle bodies due get full of crap so a good clean will sort that. If the engine is a K4M+ then it has Vvt and again they have problems, but when changing the dephaser change cambelt at same time.

Thumbs up

I know nothing about cars lol but i had this for 12 mont on my fiesta everyone said chage the coil pack 3 month on i did and no diffence turned out to be the Map/temp sesnor, i was told it was making the engine thinging it was allways cold and putting in more fuel to burn, on tick over the revs went up and down a little bit and very low on fuel.

Hope you get it sorted
