Default Cat Sx Shock Pistons

Can someone help with a shock piston question. I'm trying to figure out the difference between the 2 hole and 3 hole pistons. I understand that the 3 hole will give less dampening and the 2 hole more dampening. But given that the 3 hole pistons holes are smaller than the 2 hole pistons how does this effect pack?

The 2 hole piston feels very similar static, pressed by hand, but drop the car from say 1ft, and it absorbs the landing. Whereas 3 hole piston and the chassis slaps.

I use 2 hole pistons front and rear, undrilled. Feels MILES better.
