An 8.5 or 7.5 brushless sensored setup is ideal in a 2wd buggy.
Speed passion, LRP, Tekin, Nosram, Novak are all good brands. Hobbywing sensored is a very close match to the speed passion if your on a budget for a speedo. Orion motors also popular. I would estimate about 23 pinion 81 spur or approx. Hope this helps Mark

In my Cougar i use an lrp X12 8.5 with a 24 pinion and 80 spur. I find it gives nice smooth delivery and plenty of top end speed .

Im running the spur that come with it, 23 pinion, 10 degrees mechanical on an SPV3 7.5.
Small amount of timing on the esc though, wish id just bought a 6.5 and done away with the boost. |

Quote:
1=1 2=1 3=4 4=3 or 4 5=3 6=1 7=2 8=1 9=5 or 6 10=1 so very similar turbo settings are of for most indoor tracks, unless large and high grip

hmmmm
my cougar has the 81t spur, a 22/23 pinion, 7.5T SP motor, vortex R10 Pro speedo(as from box), not added or changed any setting on the esc, its smooth, fast, easy drive and no turbo unsettling to worry about, had 2 others drive it as is and loved the easy drive and smoothness......
i am old school and not a fan of turbo etc...... YET! But the grearing and motor T is about right either way, but many seem to have a higher turn(8.5 to 10.5) and add timing and turbo etc..... I prefer lower T and pure grunt........... just my 2p..............................
