Default making rear end looser on 22

my 22 has too much grip on entry in rear, it wont "play", im using minipin tyres

2mm inside on outside hole
back/middle on hub
short rear end.
1mm squat.

Is there anything I can reduce the the rear end grip on entry ?

I'm not sure what you mean by short rear end!

I have found that mounting the rear shocks on the outside hole on the shock tower can help with getting the car to turn in, along with perhaps increasing the anti squat.

You may also want to remove an outer row of spikes on the rear tires if you want to just want free things up a little.

It may be helpful to post the rest of your set-up, as it's possible that the front end isn't biting enough initially?!

Short as in short wheelbase.

My front end is kit version, with red spring. not sure about shock oil it is little harder. I also got bell crank system installed.

I've got ya, I was thinking you were meaning wheel base as back middle on hub, but thinking about it that must be the camber link location on the hub.

I'm assuming mini pins are the tire of choice on your track? What tire are you using up front?
A high profile cut stagger will give more bite than a low profile cut stagger.

I can't comment on bell crank steering as I use the 22 2.0 rack on my car.


Initial thoughts are you may want to stiffen the front end up a little if your running on the red kit springs. Using a stiffer spring will make the shock react quicker, I find it gives more initial bite, as it takes more force to compress the shock making the front tire dig in.

Going longer wheelbase and also try less rear toe in.

Gear diff could be good as well if you have loads of grip.

I usually put my rear shocks out on the arms. Softer oil in the gear diff also helps, and changing the weight distribution more forwards. On dry astro I mostly end up running about 39/61 weight distribution, and on the wet I remove the front alu pivot and brass shims among other things, to reach a 37/63 weight distribution. Going to a longer wheelbase also moves the weight distribution forwards. Of course just my opinion, but I feel that changing the weight distribution is really effectfull on the 22.
