Default Where to put all the radio gear

Hi all,
Have seen a lot of pix of Losi mini 8ights where people try really heard to mount all electrics on the deck is this just to get all the weight as low as pos or to help with the balance of the car and does it really make that much of a difference.
I checked all my corner weights today and they are all over the place in standard electric install would i be better off getting all corner weights the same to balance the car out or again would this make any difference.
Never have been much good with setups and since returning this is one area im really trying to learn.

Cheers Mark

Hi Mark.

It would seem that most people are putting the Rx in front of the battery pack, and changing to a smaller lipo, or putting the Speedo opposite the motor and battery pack in front. The speedo or rx then sit between the motor and servo on that side depending on room.

Generally, from what I have seen, added weight is put in the rear of the chassis, to aid traction and balance (anywhere between 40-80g). Tuning weights (5-10g) are added side to side to balance corner weights.

putting everything on the lower deck means lower c of g, and a tidier install. You can also run some more funky shells from the phat bodies range without the speedo on the top deck :-)

I have had a look and my batts are to long Genes ace 1550 but will be looking into some new batts soon with a better c rating so for now i have moved the speedo down and the receiver up as its lighter by a long way and will add some weights to balance the corners out with more on the rear and give that a go friday. The new speedo should help as well on the polished bit as the losi one was like an on off switch.

Cheers Mark
