Hi all,
This would be a fantastic development for the sport here. BADMCC have run large events before and would surely be able to host RCCAOI rounds and hopefully regular racing. With 2 clubs in the immediate area, development of this facility may result in some "restructuring" in those clubs - and I would hope that they would come together in the outdoor season to race together. Although the racing is good in both clubs at the moment, no decent standard of driving is going to happen in Drop-Inn or CVMCC without a proper outdoor track. The building of a 1/10 track at BADMCC has been spoken about casually since Xmas, and I know that there are dozens of people keen to see it work. Please register your interest on the BADMCC forum, so this happens! Regards William White - DMCC

Hi Jim,
Reading it back - I sound a bit derogatory in my post, but it's not meant to be. Drop-Inn and CVMCC both have a batch of young/Junior racers that could be the stars of the future...... if given the opportunity to do so. The proper outdoor track is a must. Regards, William

Lol, Jim an Will handbags at Dawn!
I know where will is coming from, racing on one surface and one surface alone is never going to give you the wide ranged skill-set required to do well at an international level. There are good racers at CVMCC but realistically none of them would be even fit to put it in an E or F final at a UK national, nevermind anything international! |

Off road driving is a technique which takes some mastering but there have been some sweeping comments recently which doesn't really reflect the driving ability of some of our younger drivers let alone those who raced quite a number of years ago......lol

Get Lee Martin over and he'd show you that there's no real pace in Ireland because there isn't enough actual off-road racing being done on a variety of tracks against a variety of drivers.

you have to remember that lee is world class....he would show up that any country and prove that people dont have enough pace..id kill to get racing as much as he is....would certainly improve me....

Anybody getting to race with as much variation and sheer time driving would improve a he'll of a lot but that doesn't really change the fact that at the moment the overall average pace in Ireland would be relatively low when compared to that of the UK national championship.
A lot of that is down to lack of variation in the driving especially when comparing the style of tracks raced. Racing in fivemiletown is good fun and competitive but the people who've ony driven there would have a massive culture shock when going to different surfaces. |

Agree there is only a handful, if that, of drivers from the North who have experience racing 1\10th off road. However there should be a wealth of drivers who raced for Clubs before the lack of interest in the class began. Whether these drivers will have a budget or interest to come back to compete in the class, time will tell.

As agreed at the club meeting on Monday past, BADMCC will try and make 1/10 racing available this year. The intention is to modify the existing layout to make a track within a track, bypassing the unsuitable features. This is to be able to be done within a few minutes so we can run a 1/10 heat on normal race days along with the normal 1/8 nitros. Initially there will be no class division etc until we see how it all pans out, but it is hoped the 1/10 guys will come together to agree on this at a later date.
There is a meeting scheduled at the track for Sunday 27th @ 11.30am for 1/10 drivers to give their input of modifying the track layout to make it more suitable. Anyone interested is welcome to come along and see for themselves and put forward any views or suggestions. On a separate matter, the club will also allow any 1/8 electric to run alongside the nitros. Anyone interested please get in touch. |

sundays not happening...some people couldnt make it,spoke to barkley, he is only going there to lift the track ready for maintenance so no immediate panic...the track will be going ahead...spoke to barkley yesterday at length...although the track may not be a perfect 1/10 track like some people may think, its a fantastic base for our class to start with...if the class is well supported through the year and looks promising for the future barkley has stated a purpose built track is possible...this will be astro turf so as it will be able to be used all year round...so come all you guys this is our chance...i only hope all who have gave me confidence that this will work will turn up and support it...

That looks very fast and sweeping! I'll add that date to my calendar.
Any thoughts on tyres? Are we looking at Schumachers, or more dirt-oriented rubber?
