Do you mean the cost of racing GT12, or the cost of setting up and running a club?

Whilst I don't know much about GT12, running a club will be much the same as the offroad club I help run. Biggest setup costs will be the carpet and timing gear. If you want to appeal to the most people then you need a MyLaps timing system and I think they are about £2800 new. Even second hand they fetch £1500 or so. You will need timing and race control software, we use BBK Pro which is £480 but others are available and some free ones out there as well. Add a laptop and you are looking at a few quid. Better to find a club selling up if you can.

Carpet is size dependent but is likely to be around £2000 at least but you will find second hand carpet occasionally available for much less.

Track markers can be square guttering down pipe which is fairly cheap about £30 for 15 metres. You don't need jumps but budget for some gaffer tape to stick carpet and markers down and you should be all ready.

Hope this helps

GT12 is not that popular nowadays, although it can survive at club level.

If you want a cheap class to run at a club, Tamiya Minis (fixed M07/8 spec with rubber tyres) or Mardave / kamtec hotrods (Fixed stock foams and minimum sizes) are both very popular and cheap if basic rules are in place.

Cullen1994, for cheap racing the tamiya mini or tamiya tt02 classes can provide good fun racing at a relatively cheap cost. Since u are in Ireland mate check out the Ulster model car club and if u can go and check them out on one of their race days even better. This is One of the best run club's in the country and for sure the Mini class has taken off in a big way for them. The cars are limited to only a few changes from the store bought product and spare are easy enough to get which makes it ideal for cheap fun racing

gt12 has a good regional series with various regions running series of events, Nationals, and a schumacher gp series.
