Advice on painting a 1/12th shell ?

Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice on the best way of getting paint up into the thin end veins on a 12th shell, I had a go last week rather unsuccessfully, it didn't matter too much as it was just a single colour practice shell but would now like to paint myself something a bit more interesting, will be using water based paints if it makes any difference ?

Keep spraying ( and drying in between ) from different angles, you'll get it in there eventually. Try changing the pressure too, too much and it will just blow back and not stick, not enough and it will go on real dry which could leave you with adhesion issues later on.

Thanks for the advice I'll see how I get on. .. any suggestions on pressure, I'm using fasflorescent yellow... Would usually spray at about 4.5-5 bar does that sound about right ?

You just need to experiment dude, pressure can be affected by so many things, what nozzle the airbrush has, how close you are into the shell, how thick the paint is due to the cold or heat. It's too variable to say, just try it and see how it comes out, if the first coat doesn't look too hot change something, if the next one is worse do the opposite of what you did and change it the other way, see how it comes out.
