Default I spy.....?

Okay this has been annoying me.

On one of the release photos of the CAT SX you can see under the car (just), in a reflection. It's a light coloured part on the underside. What on earth is this? So far I can think:
  1. Simply a plastic under-tray reflecting the white of the surface?
  2. A prototype plastic part. (proto parts can be white, before dye is used in production)
  3. Photoshopped part like the rest of the photos, reflections been removed?
  4. A metallic component? (Schumacher already said the chassis is CF.)
  5. Very shiny CF just caught at the right angle to reflect loads of light?

-- What are your thoughts? --

Maybe I'm being impatient and should just wait until next week for the under-the-body photos!

If you look at this picture of the rear, I think it kinda looks like an aluminum chassis.
But the chassis could be colored plastic as well..

It will more than likely be an ali hinge pin brace screwed onto a carbon chassis.

Edit: Although looking at the pic there seems to be screws into the chassis showing?? But the undertray is supposed to be black, isn't it?

you know, it could be that the undertray isn't a full tray, more side skirts??

As for the hinge pins, they have adopted the same way they do the Mi3, two alloy blocks screwed together with washers to shim down then screwed to the bulkhead and shimmed out, so it is shim central!!!

(spin doctor, re:-use of shims) it's built like that for...adjustability, as we understand the demanding requirements of todays drivers and their need to tailor a car to their driving style...i'd still like a new sx though looking forward to seeing under the shell

it can help you tune your car or confuse the bejesus out of you and also really increase the chance of non-symmetry in geometry.

If AE and Tamiya can make cars that work and don'e need shock towers like swiss cheese and infinite adjustments, is it really needed, isn't that what team drivers are for, to determine the optimal positions?

Standard Lexan undertray painted black with some holes in it.
I could explain the reason for the holes but then your brain will explode
although it has already been on one of the two SX threads.
