Cougar that pulls to left on power
I have a Cougar the pulls to the left when on power. It did it at the track and also when testing at home. I have measured every tie rod and shocks have been rebuilt. It's not weight either as the esc is on the right of the car which is heaver then the rx. As I have worked out its when it accelerates it is possible to be the diff? Is this a natural tendency? I think thats all that's left. As driving slow in is fine. It's something to do with the transmission it think

Mine always pulled left on power aswell as many others who owned a cougar sv. never figured out exactly why even after changing to a new diff/rw gears/new gearbox/bearings ect ect ect ..

I am running a 6.5. Should I put a bigger pinion on to slow acceleration or possible put a 10.5 in to slow down that initial acceleration and hence that on power left bias. Add more weight to the car? Lower the car? Help!

I had this for a moment before my diff went kaput..... Check the diff first... maybe in need of a circlip, and washer kit, if its issue is the same as mine...

The only time I had a car do this is when the chassis was broken, it was a small break though and hardly noticeable. This allowed the car to twist under ful power. I'm sure you would have noticed if the chassis was broken, but make sure all the screws are in properly on the bottom of the car, also is the top deck fixed properly? if this is not right it will twist the chassis. I think your car is twisted or twisting under full chat.

Check your outer hingepins they can bend,and if bent you´ve got different toe left/right.

a few idea..
Does the suspension move freely when the shock is not attached? Is the rear ally block bent (3 degrees or 4 degrees one) ? all the bearings are free ? To much play on rear wishbones ? just a few things i would check.. hope this helps |

never had a problem with mine pulling. just back the slipper off a bit and try that

I had this on mine shortly before my diff pulley melted check your riffs tight enough or not too tight

A 6.5 is a hell of a motor for 2WD, I've had to turn my speedo down to stop it wheel spinning LITERALLY the length of the straight, so if your diff is needing some attention it will show by doing something weird like pulling one way or the other.

I went through this last year, two things are causing this, weight balance and bias. Because the motor ass and speed are on the right, the left wheel unloads under power and breaking, this thread explains it http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...perfect+cougar
Now if you still see the rear unstable, you need more rear weight bias. Shave the rear arms at the inner and outer hinges to bring the hubs forward. Put the shocks behind the towers. The new inline steering arms will also help alot. Last two things, put the plastic shim along with 2 mm washers under the camber link. Then add weight. Trishbits sells a brass bar that screws to the chassis between the motor and battery. What I like is sticking lead golf tape under the chassis at the tranny. Hope this helps you.
