I know that they spent last week machining the chassis you're waiting for. So the wait is almost over.

OKey dokey, so if you've currently got a gen 1 Vega 201, what are the key differences, and are you (Vega) going to do a conversion kit?

Cheers.

My 201 Gen 2 has just turned up in the post and I have to say I am very pleased with the way it looks.

The chassis is a slightly different shape to allow saddles to fit in in a narrow or wide configuration. Most importantly though is the back of the chassis is much thicker resulting in the gearbox being raised by about 2mm. There are now 4 holes for the rear pivot block rather than just the 2 on the previous version. They've also included a new rear shock tower which now has loads of camber positions compared to the gen 1 tower.

I was going to just buy a new chassis and carbon battery strap to upgrade my version 1 as I believe the gearbox from the gen 1 car will fit on the gen 2 car. I am glad I went for a new complete conversion as the gen 2 gearbox does appear to differ slighly from the gen 1 as the tower seems to mount a few mm further back. Bottom line is the chassis, gearbox, shock tower and battery strap have all changed so I would just go for a complete conversion.

Well done Team Extreme, I can't wait to get the car built up and on the track.

Thanks for the info, would be nice if Vega occasionally answered emails and PMs...

Hmm so that would make the car a cool £600 invested in a 2wd.

Think i'll pass and stick with the standard one I have. Besides other than Gurnell, I don't know anyone who has actually received their kit despite paying for it (allegedly instock) back in February.

Shame, I guess they're focusing on the RB5 kits instead.

I popped into Xtreme HQ today, lots of Tamiya Gen 2 and RB5's being packed up and getting ready to leave.

Its a small one man firm making these but rest assured they are clearing the back log. They look ace!

As it being a £600 car, you can pick up second hand 201's for £100-150 so not too bad and it goes well as Mr Martin is proving

511 wing mounts are required, speak to Jt models or RC Domination to buy a set
