Default Astra VXR Detail!

This was done in May but thought i'd put the details up here in case anyone wanted to see!

Full process was as follows

Pre-spray with G101 (APC) to remove previous wax, break up dirt and grit

Snow Foamed (I4Detailing Foam with a bit of APC mixed in - Only for dirty jobs)

Rinsed off with Pressure washer

Wheels sprayed with AB Very Cherry (Non-acid) and scrubbed with various brushes

Tyres and arches also sprayed with G101 and scrubbed & aggitated with various brushes

Wheels, tyres and arches all rinsed off

Car shampoo'd with Wolf's White-Satin, used with 2 x Buckets (Wash & Rinse) with Grit Guards and an Adam's Polishes large wash pad.

Rinsed off once more

De-tarred using AS Tardis to break down all the large areas, including wheels - Rinsed off once more

Clayed entire car with fine grade blue clay bar and AS Reglaze as clay lube
Car all rinsed off once more

Sprayed all over with Meg's Last Touch as a drying aid
Towel dried

Taped up with 3M masking tape on all Handles, rubber / plastic trim, indicators, lights, grill - Anywhere you don't want to touch with polishing machine.

Badly scratched panels / areas on the doors and front wings were wet sanded with ultra fine 2000 & 4000 grit sanding discs with plenty of water, dried off and inspected to make sure the scratches had gone.

Car was then polished using my 3M Rotary machine, with 3M Fast cut+ in some areas, followed by Extra fine polish (used on most of the car) on a Chemical Guys Hex logic Orange pad,

This was then refined all over using 3M Ultrafina on a matching blue waffle pad to leave a completely swirl free finish with no holograms or buffer trails.

Full panel wipedown with IPA at each stage to remove any polish & dust to show true condition of the paint

All blue tape was then removed, car snow foamed once more to remove all polish dust

Final stages were to dry off once more having pre-sprayed with Meg's last touch.

Waxed with Swissvax Best of Show (£160 per pot) and buffed using a deep pile plush MF cloth.

All glass cleaned with AS 20/20 Cristal and a proper glass cleaning cloth.
Tyres dressed with Meg's Endurance gel and a final wipedown given using Zaino Z-8

a few years ago, there was a big hit on the internets with an ugly blond bloke detailing the #### out of a white nurburgring astra, it was so funny, using spring water, 20 coats of wax in a row, etc., anyone remember?

edit: got it! http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=81391

Cheers BZB - that spring water link gave me a good chuckle.

Marc @ Heavenly detail that was, and yes it was rather OTT but each to their own I suppose, he was doing it as a hobby but now makes good money out of it and has a nice Focus RS!

Not many hobbies turn into something you can make a bit of cash from but the main thing is doing something you enjoy
