Unforunately I have different info

I have the following info although not from Kyosho

Front
Pink = 65
Gold = 70
Yellow = 75
New Orange = 80

Rear
Pink = 43
White = 44
Gold = 45
Red = 46
Yellow = 47

On my 2wd Vega I have been using the new Orange with either a Red or Yellow rear

X-gear spring rate charts.

pink (kyosho spring #65)
white (kyosho spring #68)
gold (kyosho spring #70)
red (kyosho spring #72)
yellow (kyosho spring #75)

This was the info i got from Shin Sept 2010...and was for both front and rear springs... I can only assume the new Orange will be as you said #80

May I ask why your not after the actual rate in terms of unit mass per unit length displacement? That is the only way to calculate wheel rates & thus do any real cross range / platform comparisons?

I have measured all the major company's big bore springs but sadly there was a calibration error on the machine between runs so I can't be 100% sure on the yokomo rates. I am however 100% sure that the Kyosho fronts are a fair bit softer than the small bore equivalents

Thx for the info.
I am after getting the wheel rate in kg/mm.

I have tried the tebo setups, but find the spring and oil combo to be too soft. The car roll very deep especially in the rear, then with little steering the inner wheel just lifts with tire swell.

I am considering the normal shocks instead....

Try and pickup some Losi springs if you are struggling to find stiff enough with the Kyosho. They are so much cheaper (in the UK anyway) so you can try several sets for the price of a single pair of the K springs.

What surface are you running on? Post your current setup and I'm sure someone on here will be able to offer some suggestions.

Anyone know what the spring rates are on the FS2-SP? They're black with no markings on and no clues in the manual. Rears dont seem bad but fronts seem way soft. I'm gonna run durango or losi but am curious.

There should be a tiny blob of colour at one end .... not got mine yet so can't confirm.

Hopefully Mr Caro will be sending me a full set of just about every spring to measure in the very near future. I will do a full table and post it up (probably on PetitRc as I have had no success with uploading stuff to oople.)

David Ronnefalk's dad posted in a scandinavian forum that the springs in the new kits are "not exactly the same, but equivalent to":

ZX-5 FS2 SP:
Front: Red
Rear: Red

RB-5 SP WC
Front: Pink
Rear: Red

If I use losi springs, what do we recommend? Astro at Broxtowe this weekend then next week at Worksop? Cheers.

Hi Si

You said Losi front hence I said Blue.
My choice would be the New Kyosho Orange front spring with a red Kyosho rear.
If you haven't got the new Orange front then Losi Blue is good - I actually used that indoors the other day to compare.

Now at Worksop I hear people suffering with steering - I would start with them but maybe sofen up a little if need be
Hope that helps you a little

Default Springs

Well... To confuse things even more, my new RB5 SP2 WE, the front springs have little blob of dark blue on them?? & feel quite stiff,
The rears have no markings on them at all & feel quite soft?

Si,

At chadderton just gone i was running some Yokomo tappered pistons 6 hole 1.1mm front 40wt and rear 6 hole by 1.2mm (nick gurnels) 30wt and the car was good..

Springs im finding the front end needs to be alot stiffer so i use the Yokomo Green (4.2lb) or Orange (5.25lb) front, at the rear i always end up on Kyosho Red.

The hardest Kyosho is equililent to the softest Yokomo!

Yokomo goes. Pink, Green, Orange, Black, Purple...

http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/BuggyBigBoreSpring.pdf

Just to make sure.. you have dremelled a ridge in your front arms?? and youve also put an angle on your ball ends to stop them catching the front gearbox on full lock?? (this wont be a problem though if your running the E SPeed ackermann mod...)

Any probs give me a shout.. may be at Broxtowe Sunday running SC
