Default Kyosho Optima Re release

A teaser on Kyosho Japan's webpage! Fingers crossed, with a few tweaks to bring it up to spec a tad maybe?

Jesus that surprises me, how ever much do you think that will cost

But maybe it has the original size shocks fitted, It would be great to be able to buy those bloody stock spring clamps again both my optima and javelin could do with new ones.

This was pretty much inevitable but good news it's on the cards already.

It would be great to see rere Optima's racing at Revival 2016 so hopefully Kyosho will roll these out quicker than they did with the Tomahawk.

Shocks look updated, maybe the same used on the Tomahawk, the towers are very different to the std original car, look to have countersunk screws on the damper mounts too, and the boxy driver figure is now replaced, looks like a styrene version?

Hopefully we'll see more details soon. And hoping it will be competively priced, but knowing Kyosho, it probably won't. Still amazing to see it finally get re-released.

I'm sure I'll get one when it comes out. Although I might be in the minority by having a greater love for the various Mids. I just remember drooling over the boxes on the shelf in Howes in Oxford in the late 80s. There always used to be a little dwarf dude on a stool. Not sure that's relevant but it adds to the nostalgia.

I hope the chain and the yellow/blue/white blur is just to strenghten that it is the classic Optima, but need not imply the re-re uses chain. Shortening it after it got too far stretched, and making sure the link that was opened to be able to remove a link, got back into good shape again, is not such a nice job.

Agreed, but I'll be honest, no matter what they release, I'll be buying it
Well, provided it looks like original optima. I know all later ones were improvements, but they don't make my memories stir like the original...
Don't even want a wing on!

No 4WD because nothing lives up to my original Optima. Until now maybe?...

That's the beauty of the belt upgrade, it still looks as vintage as one with chain.

I remember following the suggestion of a fellow club member at Halifax as a teenager with an Optima. By judicious use of an 18T 32DP pinion, a 540 motor on a battery pack, and a file, the sprocket teeth were removed from the Optima diff cases. The centres of two Schumacher car belt pulleys carefully enlarged and then glued to the Optima diffs. One Cat belt, and voila, a belt drive Optima

A set of CAT shocks, some home made shock mounts and it was a good racer until I saved up enough to buy the rest of the CAT

Lots of detailed pictures here: http://reports.kyoshoeurope.com/lege...es-les-photos/

Updated gearbox, and some other improvements as well. Apparently comes with chain and belt, so buyer can choose what to install.
