Cougar alloy gear box casing
Ok guys just rebuilding the schumacher cougar with the new alloy casing and noticed how much play there was with the idler gear and the layshaft side to side, they mesh correctly but side to side play is quite alot, now Iam not used to these small cars but I would say there is way to much play for my liking, tried them back in the old case and its the same, is this ok to have so much play or would you shim it correcty ? or am i missing some shims or somthing ?
Update... built the casing up with the slipper installed and there is so much play with the bearings in the case the spur gear moves from side to side and in and out, now I am using the standard bearings that came with the car (yellow) so thinking i must be doing something wrong as surely schumacher would not release a case that is not machined correctly so I must be doing something wrong, the bearings are so lose inside the case, any ideas from the team drivers or anyone else thats installed this case ?

How easy did the bearing fit into the case ? mine fall in and if you turn the case over they fall out so easy, maybe i have a bad case

Here is a quick video from my iphone so its not to clear but i hope you can see what am talking about
The side to side play or end float I can shim but its the side to side of the bearings in the case, tried it back in the old plastic case and its fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS_gLLEKif0

You will have to mail me the new Rossmod Banner.
Just watched it on utube as long as you enjoyed it. The track looks’ a lot bigger than the last time I visited.

Stevo;
Firstly check for any damaged bearings, if they look ok get the casing back to us for inspection. We have sold a lot of these and its the first we have seen like this. |

I just recieved mine yesterday, my opinion of it in one word......incredible!!. I really love it, installed a new set of ceramic bearings to go along with and must say its super smooth. My car is soo quiet now, it almost sounds like a sedan.
