Yay, vintage this week, I'll be there
Yes, dependent on numbers you can, but we'll have to wait until everyone has booked in before we can make that decision. If you are planning on running vintage, please update the vintage topic! http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...896#post574896 |

In terms of running more than 1 class on Vintage weeks...and generally keeping the heat numbers under control at all times....
We need to start limiting the number of heats to 6, beyond that we cannot guarantee 4 rounds of racing in the time. Adding vintage automatically adds a heat onto the 3 classes we already run every week, so we will be keeping an eye on booking in, and limiting people to one class of racing if it helps us keep the number of heats capped at 6. The one class only decision will work across the board for all classes of racing as well...provided it helps us keep the heat number down to 6. If there is space within the 6 heats for people to run a 2nd class, those spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis...remembering that booking in is only done on the night at race control...anything posted on here before hand is not booked in! We are just trying to get our heads around the numbers at the moment, it's been consistently really busy over the last few months, which is amazing...but we do want to make sure we can maximise track time in the fairest way possible, and the 1 class only idea seems like it might help with that. We can only ask you be patient with us while we figure out the easiest and best way to manage it, but rest assured, we will manage it

Can I just get this straight in my head.
2WD (for example) would have (for example) three rounds of heats, at say 7 cars each, total 21 2WD entrants. If all the 2WD runners turn up early or a 2WD driver gets there a little late or later, there is a chance with the above situation, they could not race if they only came with a 2WD car and all 21 slots were taken ?? Is that about right ? If the above is correct, can the club have an absolute start time as well. That way everybody would know that racing starts at 'X' o'clock. I have been in the situation that I've got there at 7.30, just in time to catch 'race starts in 2 mins' when the week before, racing didn't start until 8pm. With such a wild start time, it makes it hard to book in properly unless we get there very early. Having said that, I'm trying to get there for about 7pm anyway these days |

The problem we have with start times is that it is dependant on the amount of help we get with setting out.
The less people helping means a later start time. (please note that I do appreciate that not everyone can get there early due to other commitments) Until we trial it I don't think we can say exactly how it will work, so please bear with us |

It says 6 heats of 4 different classes (Vintage, 4wd 2wd and Micro) - My guess is the other 2 will be filled with the classes with the most drivers booked in on a first come first service basis-
Realistically with vintage Micro 4wd and 2wd all being popular we normally get 2 heats per class with out fail 42 drivers normal night / 56 drivers with the vintage class going on 56 - first 28 (using 7 drivers per heat as number in heats from previous club nights) garneted a place in there class - After that the remaining 28 drivers will some how (I don’t envy any one taking on that) be booked into the final 14 places in the 2 remaining heats leaving 14 drivers turned away ( 14 driver using 2 heats for 4 classes) Capping the drivers to one class would most likely free up a heat and changing the number to 49 - leaving 7 free spaces and only 7 drivers turned away However- if the number is changed from 7 drivers per heat to 8 with one heat of 9 then there is no issue- but would mean one of two mixed heats Its just an example – but dose show that capping 2 heats per class and one class per driver and upping the number to 8 drivers per heat would let you run 6 heats. the other option is dropping a class on the vintage night Im not part of the club and the above is an example- its down to what the club feel is right at the end of the day |

This all assumes that we get as many drivers as we have been over the last few weeks!
I have spoken to most if not all vintage drivers and they understand that they are unlikely to be able to run two classes, unless numbers are down on normal. They are also aware that if only 2 or 3 vintage cars turn up then there won't be a seperate heat for them and they will be given the opportunity to reschedule. We'll see how it goes this Friday and we'll go from there |
