A 28 pinion and 70 spur will give you a ratio of 2.50, I would start there.

as mark said 65mm is good to start as it depends on how big your tyres are too so its best to work to the rollout

I actually run at 62mm/rev and was thinking of going down a little. I think a good starting point is just that. It all comes down to driving style as well. I know I lost out last week, because I just couldn't get close enough to the guy in front, coming out of the corner, on power.

Is 31 pinion 68 spur ok

I'm on 1s
13.5 thunder power
49.6 tyres
With a 71.04 rollout,
Gear ratio 2.19

Track is 1 long straight and the rest is winding.
This track but will be slightly different.

Default Basic gearing.

Hi there, ive just got into the world of 12th superstox/mardave etc and im just wondering what gearing to start with. Im running the 70 tooth spurgear, and at the last meeting in used a 30tooth pinion, but it felt a little slow but the motor was only 'lukewarm' when it came off the track after each heat. Im using the basic standard 'Silvercan' brushed motor and a 1s lipo. Im racing at Dudley indoors on carpet, and id say its a relatively small circuit due to being in a school hall. The tyres ive currantly got are at the limit and about 43mm dia, but i have new tyres to true up once i know whats the best size to go to to start with?

Any help will be appreciated.

Lee

A couple of nicad packs would be better suited to silver can brushed sue to the higher voltage, it will feel flat with your combo I'm afraid.

Default Gearing

If you run on a tight track with lots of corners go for a 28t pinion with a 70 spur. With a long fast track, a 30t is more suited.
