Question Gear- ratio help!

Hi all

I have just built a new car (Abisma AB2.4... !) which has this spec:

Hello,

the internal translation is 2,92
the external translation is 2.78

So I am planning to use (maybe) a 6.5 turn brushless motor. I'm wondering what pinion size is a good choince? I have to mention I think it's a standard 1/10 model, perhaps a little big for 1/10 but not much..

these appear to be available on the web in wither brushless or brushed versions

brushed is a 15t
brushless is 3300 kv not sure what that equates to in "turns"

brushless version runs a 23t pinion be wary as they may be .6 pitch module not 48 dp it may not mesh correctly

THANKs. Amazing.

So it seems 13.5 turn is (*very roughly!) equiv to 3300kv. So with a 6.5 I would want something say 14-16 tooth?

I believe the spur is 48dp but I shall double this

these are more for fun than hardcore racing I wouldn't but as fast motor in as a 6.5 to start with

it may destroy transmission

Ok cool thank youi

I believe the motor is already fitted but I will rethink my position when I get home. I have quite a few 540 brushless to choose from. Shouldn't be a problem.

Just wish I could get a breakdown of the gear ration / pinion selection maths. I guess I could google hard for it.

run for short period check motor for temperature if cool run for a couple of more minutes and check again if still cool gear up and test again
