Default Are the rumours true?

Is it true that the new 210 V2 will be out in the next 4 months?

Don't be all surprised with how cheap the kits have been recently

Quoted by Bally in the MB Models section

Quote:
We only have 21 DEX210 kits remaining in stock at the current offer prices - Once these are gone it will be a 3-4 month wait for the new model to arrive, so if you want a DEX210 kit now is the time to buy.

Mr Skelding say's the recent price drop is about getting the car out there as very few people other than the sponsored drivers actually use the 210 at nationals etc, there is no upcoming V2 but there will be some upgrades. That's if you believe it!

Nope, not having a word of it

I don't think Durango would allow Jorn Neuman to run a car that was so far from out the box spec at the euros unless it was part of their development for the new car. I don't think it will be a huge amount different but certainly a V2

I think there will be a lot of changes. New arms, new chassis, gearbox. There is a picture on a thread and it looks sexy if that is the car. I will go find it lol

EDIT

Don't know how true this is

You'd expect them to design a new gearbox for a car apparently due in 3-4 months just after releasing the Spec B DIMEC chassis?

If they'd be planning on such rigorous changes on the rear end they might have wanted to wait releasing an updated chassis tub (+suspension hangers). Moulds are pretty expensive, so you'd expect them to have the new tub compatible with a new gearbox... and if you're redesigning the heart of the rear end it's nice if you can build that without compromise and the rest of the rear end (chassis, suspension hangers etc) around that, and not the other way around.

Plus, besides actual costs... from a sales/marketing perspective updating the gearbox is a big investment... they should have plenty of updates that will make people buy it:
- DIMEC Spec B+appropriate hangers+bodyshell
- More rear link options on gear casing
- Problems solved that some casings have fitting a gear diff
- Updated HD ballcups
- Alu/carbon steering plate

A new gearbox design will not make them sell say 25% more cars... I don't like that mentality, but unfortunately you see it with many RC brands (particularly the ones part of a bigger structure).

There is a nice thing to this though... IF they'd develop a/the new gearbox for the V3, it'd mean they can take all the time in the world to make it something special like the current gearbox... I'd say they'd be aiming for lower profile, motor closer to diff, more lightweight unit and a triad-style clutch... Try to realize that from testing another brand's gearbox on your car design put into production in 4 months time

Info from MB Models here: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134157

"News on replacement kits - We were told today that Team Durango are expecting the DEX410v4 kits to arrive in November and the DEX210v2 in February 2014, the kits arriving on Monday are the last kits Team Durango have available until the new models arrive."

I'm not surprised by the DEX210v2 as we've seen quite a bit of development and prototype parts on the team cars but the DEX410v4 is a bit of a surprise, I haven't seen anything new on a 410 for quite a while now.

But if the 410V4 update is fairly minor, and the 210V2 more significant rolling out the 410 first makes sense as its easier to do.

What worries me slightly is the whole 'we'll soon sell out of 210's and then there will be none until the V2 arrives next years' bit. Knowing Durango's habits with producing spares why do I suspect a shortage of them in the mean time too?

I do hope they don't have a shortage of supplies as this would be a terrible situation for all the people who have just bought one , maybe a lot of parts on the v2 will fit the original ?

God I do hope they go with the Ali chassis, or at least come up with a new tub and junk the Dimec it's probably the biggest decider for me. It's the reason I haven't a 210st aswell.
