Angry SC10 Gear Diff 9827 Too Big

I got a new sc10 complete gear diff to replace my worn out ball diff but after Assembly i find that the diff is to big to fit inside the transmission case. im about 5mm out.

+ when assembling i find that the out drives are just bigger than the 10 x 16 ball bearing and that they wont fit.

Im so confused i thought that the gear diff was supposed to fit. any help here

The gear diff is a straight fit into the B4.1 but not the B4 as the outdrives and bearings are a different size.
Which do you have?

I thought i had a b4.1 i brought the car 2nd hand it came with no electronics but came with the b4.1/t4.1 manual + the r2r green b4.1 shell so i just assumed it was a b4.1. Any way to tell the difference clearly?

It may be possible that the previous owner got a new transmission cover but i cant be sure as i cant tell the difference.

Would you find this sort of 5mm gap if i had the wrong transmission cover?

i have a b4 and a sc10 (same as b4.1) covers and both the ball diff and gear cases look almost identical for fit and there is shouldnt be a 5mm gap.

There are 2 different gearcases! One is for a balldiff, and the other for a geardiff.

Plus a number of parts are different B4 vs B4.1, such as the rear T plate, it too is available in 2 versions, and was altered mainly to fit the geardiff.

Best is to search the thread explaining the differences, I know it's on here somewhere!

Not quite true! the SC10/B4.1/T4.1 all use a different gearcase and T piece as the outdrive bearings are a different size (metric) - the 4.1 ball diff and the sc10 gear diff both fit these casings with no alterations required
This means that they are not compatible with the old B4/T4 outdrives/casings

B4 gearcase #9574
B4.1 gearcase #9826
B4 T piece #9570
B4.1 T piece #9818

Hope this helps
