Talking Off-the-Hwal Grafix

So this is where RCS Jon lives!

I just wanted to introduce myself...My name is Chris Hwalek and live in Connecticut USA. I'm a design junky and love viewing and making custom painted RC shells. I repair and install signs by day, father by night, and custom RC painter on the weekends (Mostly..if the wife lets me ).

I've been airbrushing RC shells since summer 2010 and have yet to look back.

Here are a few of mine:

Hang up the brush? You nuts? You, Czech, and Roly inspired me to do this. My designs have so many of you're "accents" (and paints, lol) ...I'd bow out of these forums before that happens.

I have 2 new ones to share. I don't normally "spatter" a lot but it's fun to do.

This one is to mimic a Mugen ad car:

This one I'm still trying to get used to. I saw it race today...The customer loves it but it still makes me cringe. He mentioned a passer-by said it was the coolest paint job he'd ever seen. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.

I've been at a lull doing favors for friends airbrushing towels, t-shirts, and stuff like that...I finally have something relating to show:

I struggled a bit with some aspects of this one. It's a redo of a similar design the customer wanted but with Kawasaki green. The checkers are Faschange blue so at some angles it turns from white to blue. It looks very cool in the flesh.

Sure! One thing that sticks out to me is have a print out of the design lightened up and reversed so you can tape it directly to the shell and follow the cut lines that way.

Another thing... When doing dry brush work ALWAYS wipe excess on the brush off before touching the lexan. It's a bummer when you glob on a line by accident.

That "radical hunter" one I decided to use vinyl mask... I vectored the design out and used a plotter. It would have been too much time for the money to hand cut it. Plus I know he's going to do more shells in the future..so I have that logo ready to go when needs be.

And that 55:

Pasl33: You HAD to have used a language translator. I do custom work but I'm up to my neck right now.
