Default Ardent to create a permanent indoor 18th and Micro buggy track.

It's true! Ardent are creating a permanent indoor 18th and Micro buggy track and will be ready mid September, will be carpet with wooden ramps and slippy sections. Will have it's own timing system and we will be available for playing and bashing whenever we are open and we will be announcing some 18th scale buggy club evenings, (Possibly Thursday Nights or Saturdays).

Size will be approximately 17m x 8m.

Pictures of the development will follow as it happens. First job is relocating the cafe!!

John.

Ooo.. Now I was planning a trip to Ardent eventually anyway..but if we have some Micro racing at the weekend I'd consider the 2 hour drive

Micro was how I got back into the hobby...got a Atom XB and was addicted to bashing again real quick LOL

Have you a time schedule for this latest endeavor ?

I can see myself offering some training discounts on days at Donington so I can come and play on that track!

Great Ardent isnt that far from me and i could always pop after work maybe.

It will be a boost to get a permanent track for micros in the uk.

Altho it looks like the size will not allow nationals with the currant rules :-(

The creation of this track is as follows:

End August, clear empty office and store room, fit electric for the cafe relocation

Beginning of September move cafe and relocate scalextric track and gazeebo Order green carpet and build ramps. Announce opening day.

Opening day planned (but subject to change) Saturday 24th September!!

Regular schedule for the track (definitely)
Practice 13:00 till 18:00 Tuesdays and Fridays (All radio frequencies)
Practice 18:00 until 23:00 Tuesdays and Fridays (2.4 only, as race meeting runs on big track)
Thursday Night 19:00 - 22:00 Open Practice (possible race meeting, all frequencies)
Saturday open practice 10:00 until 18:00 (All frequencies) (Maybe run a meeting once a month or more often if numbers build)
Sundays (excluding large event days) Open Practice (2.4 ghz only)

Cost £5 for 4 hours practice, £10 for the entire day.

Pictures will follow. There's around 5 of us that are going to buy some micro buggies so there will be a good group of regulars to race against :-) We are thinking Carisma GT14bs what do you think? Might get a few for demo cars that people can hire and play with.

Hands up it was my fault that we don't have a national at Ardent this year, I didn't reply back to your section in time and I was even chased and I let it slip completely, was devastated when I saw the dates appear, won't let myself live it down. Would definitely have it back in 2012, but we'll have to use the big track as this won't be up to spec.

Great for a bit of Micro racing buggy fun though :-)

happy to help.

I've been using a carisma gt14b as a rental buggy with no major mishaps. you would need to upgrade the hingepin carriers to metal ones and have a good stock of hingepins. the rear wings dont last long either but phat bodies do 2 for £8.

I had the spring go in the steering wheel transmitter tonight. hopefully an easy fix.

The Carisma's are definitely the car of the moment (I'd get one myself, but even though I've had my Shark since the first Dudley, I've only used it about a dozen times).

It really needs a competitor though, as it always tends to be one car that dominates the whole thing.

I'd love to come along once a month for a run around ... Looks like I need to get a GT14-B... Granted you'll all have to excuse my dreadful driving skills.

I'm really looking forward to this.

Back store room has been cleared ready for sink and fridges from the Cafe, Cafe move has been bought forward to early September now, which means we may end up ahead of schedule. Best get the Carisma 14Bs ordered!!

Well the cafe has been moved and the Micro buggy track area is completely clear. Carpet should turn up this week so should be OK for a launch of the Micro Buggy track. Who's up for a christening race meeting on SUnday October 2nd?
