Default If we build one, would you come?

Plans are being developed now for a potential new off-road track at the Eastwoodbury Lane venue in Southend on Sea. The track would be sited next to the current tarmac track (the old dirt track location)

Due to local constraints, the track will be aimed at 10th scale electric and likely be on an Astro Turf surface,

The real question here is, is there a need for another off-road track in the South East?
We are at the planning stages with this so any comments or suggestions are welcome.

I'd certainly be up to having a go, bit far for it to be a weekly thing for me though.

Close enough to the quote ...

Wish the track was closer, I'd definitely attend!

Thanks chaps for your feedback. As I expected, the clear answer is, if we do it right and build a venue that is correct for the section, people will come to race. This goes for any section always.

I've been looking at other clubs pictures here and on FB and I've seen some excellent tracks for sure.
We have something to aim for and I'm sure that with the depth of personnel at the Southend club we can do a great job. After all, the club started out as one of the biggest and best in the UK and what we have done at EWS proves we know what is needed.

I'll post updates here as we go.
Happy New Year everyone.

Go for it richard. If you would like any advice on handling the astroturf just ask barry or myself about how we did the coastal track. It could save you a lot of time trying different options like we did

Do it right and you will do well, there isn't any 1/10 astro tracks in our area but there is a lot of drivers so I can't see a reason for it not to be busy.

No excuses about being closer. The track is literally at the end of Southend airports runway. You could get off the plane and be at the track in five minutes

full astro 1/10th off road & full ashpalt 1/10th TC track.

Good luck to Richard though another good venue is always welcome

Lots of ideas on the table now. The area has been defined and now its just a question on surface type. Astro or Dirt? Or both??

If you have enough room, do both, if not Astro, at least you'll be able to run on it all year round.

its starting to take shape down at Eastwoodbury Lane. The guys have layed out a temp circuit using rope and corrugated tubing. The plan is to race on Thursday nights and Sundays.
Rostrum will be a low level scaffold tower once finished.
The track is grass.
I don't know anymore than this i've had zero involvement with it down there but hopefully the interest will be enough over the next few months to allow the club to move towards a permanent track ready for next years season.
