The only difference between the SP GT2 and the GT2 LPF is the height.
The "Low Profile Version" is lower - its what I run and its first class, really reliable. Never had any problems with it at all. Also, if you run a SP motor with the GT2 then the ESC thermal protection also monitors your motor and can shut it off too. As for the LRP, I dont know as Ive only used the SP. |

I thought the Speed passion GT 2.1 is the lower version of the GT 2??
Because the LPF is cheaper then the GT 2, because of the height!? Now im confused...

No, the LPF is just a resized GT 2.0
The 2.1 is a newer esc. (I think specifically designed for stock racing, but not 100% sure about that) So, for your 22, the SP range would be: GT 2.0 GT 2.0 LPF (same as GT2.0 but smaller) GT 2.0 Pro (same as GT2.0 but with extra features, the best ones being the 'supercharger' and ability to use USB to update the firmware) GT 2.1 (Prostock or EX) You might want to check that the GT 2.1 is suitable for your racing as they are specifically targetted at stock and possibly touring cars. If it was my choice, I would go for the GT 2.0 Pro if you can afford (and fit!) it. The 22 doesnt have much space, so I know some guys have been using smaller LRP esc's to help fit everything in. |

Well i found a LPF + 6.5 + 7.5 Speed passion motors for 150 gbp 2nd hand
if it's sold, im going with the LRP sxx v2 i think... EDIT: I just saw that the GT 2.0 PRO is 165 gbp and LRP sxx v2 163 gbp :P haha will go for the speed passion instead...

As long as it fits in your 22 then the GT 2.0 Pro is an awesome speedo.
Good choice I think! ... but dont just take my word for it, Ive never used LRP, they might be even better! : |

Have you checked hobbywing, these are the same ESC's as the SP ones just with different branding, apparently they come from the same factory and can use the same software. You could be saving a fortune, they also do other models that may be of interest.
They do a 120A version of the SP that I believe is the one you are after. The 60A version will run down to a 5.5t as long as you don't use advanced timing (ok I wouldn't but it was something that made me look into other options). Just thinking before you splash the cash it's worth researching. I'm going to be doing more research next month as with the mid motor 22 it's all about space and cooling etc. Just food for thought, don't think you can go too far wrong with the LRP and SP ones, and maybe the backup might be a bit better then Hobbywing. long short, I'm just recommending you look into this option. |

The LPF is lower Amp rated and so you need to be more careful what you run it with. The Pro will handle pretty much anything you throw at it (4wd, 5.5R, 90C).
I know quite a few people run the LPF in 2wd and don't have any problems when running with 6.5R motors... HTH |

I dont think thats correct.
Im not sure that the LPF is lower amps than the normal GT2.0 - it certainly is lower than the Pro version (which is basically run any motor you like) Im running a 5.5T with the GT2.0 LPF and its bullet proof (so far!) |

Tough call. We have used SP LPF and LRP, in previous chassis. Couldn't split them on performance, for me the LRP has a smaller footprint which enabled me to get it between the std sized servo and the saddle pack. Getting the ESC down here also means I can run a fan on it.
LRP is marginally harder to set up counting the LED flashes, rather than the SP hand held unit. Overall LRP wins for us. Nigel. |

When I contact Schumacher about the limits on the LPF approx 12 months ago, I was informed the 2S Lipo limit was 6.5R. The Schumacher website now states 5.5R limit on Lipo, so maybe they've updated some of the components.
If you are running 5.5R in 4wd I think you are pushing the speedo to it's limit...I've seen the LPF run with a 5.5 in 2wd on Grass without any problem though. I run Pro's in both 2wd and 4wd so I don't have first hand experience of the LPF. I'm not sure what you mean about the normal GT2.0 - there is the LPF and Pro only - http://www.speedpassion.net/eu/catagory.asp?c=esc&sc=16 They are the same physical size but the pro is rated at almost twice the Amps... |

I have both and the differences are this.
SSX: negatives a little expensive no reverse programing is a little harder wires are soldered directly to the board positives small size no fan needed speed passion negatives larger size needs a fan positives easy to program lower price changing wire lengths is easy more programing options. both are smooth and good quality, I prefer the SP for the reverse option and program flexability. In the 22 I think space is a issue and the ssx might be a better option.

Well i don't think space is a problem anymore as im making a "battery strap" kind of thing so i will have the speedo on it.
Need to say that i am just a hobby driver, i don't race and im not deadly serious about this hobby/sport. I am not good at soldering (I suck at it) So that gives the SP PRO a plus....

Whilst the SP or Hobbywing for that matter, are much harder by comparison to programme. You have 15 options you can alter to set up the speedo, and you need to have quite a decent understanding of how to set up each option as they all work in conjuction with each other. For what it's worth, Hobbywing actually make SP esc's, yet thay are the cheaper of the 2. I run a Hobbywing Xtreme Stock and think its a great speedo, it's been trouble free and not let me down once, and the best bit, almost half the price of the SP equivelent! |
