I would assume it would be called the b54 or b55.

Depends on how much of an upgrade it is. Might just be a worlds spec or a B44.3. Trouble is its not like the B44.2 has been outclassed in results, Craggy still showing the way home in the UK, Hartson won the Worlds. Car is still up there in speed. That said, I do like the new plastics and construction of the B5
OT a bit but I think the B5M was too little too late, should have done a front motor car for the rest of the world outside USA. |

The car the top racers are using now is based on the Schelle chassis, with conversion to durango gear diffs. I've also heard that Neil runs a shorter chassis than the B44.2, but not as short as the B44.1.
My view is that they will re-engineer the car to allow for quick and easy diff changes and access to the drive train, run a shorter chassis than the 44.2, maybe go metric, and have proper 12mm hexes all round. I suspect there will be a shorty conversion feature also? B45? or B54? :-)

I think they will follow suit with HB and Kyosho and make a car that suits different battery layouts.
Shorty seems to be the way to go at the moment.

No it can't. Can't get it in.
Gap between side pods and battery strap/rear prop is too small. Need to start with diy straps and all sorts of dicking around. |

Ok, the B44 still performs but it is a design from hell. They must come up with a new car all together.
1.It need to be more reliable and built for today's electronics and speed. Beefed up like the B5`s. 2.Needs to be in metric standard. 3.Needs easier diff access. Alu chassis and gear diff as standard with optional ball diffs. Would be great if a center diff were included. Not a must but it would be nice. Dirt tires tend to swell differently under hard acceleration/speed and a center diff could even the difference a bit. Shorty and saddle alternatives just like HB, Kyosho and now Yokomo. I am waiting for one but if it is a worlds car or a B44.3 I wont buy it. Never! I go for a HB in that case. |

he wasnt happy with the performance on the new 8th buggy and got told off for going back to his old car that worked. his move has been coming for some time though as it was mid last year he started dumping his electrics, speedo and engine attachments to reedy/associated. it was around 2 months ago that Orion mentioned they were signing a mystery super star. and thats just been announced as Ryan M |

If they bought a b44.2 world car I think it would be a terrible move for the b44 chassis. The current cost of a b44.2 is £300 but with all the upgrades from associated the price will be £350+.
Associated should have left the b44.2 on sale until the new model comes out but they obviously have a reason for discontinuing the b44.2. |

Why keep a design that is so far from anything else out there? In a bad way. It is a nightmare to wrench. It is far from a smart design. Not a smart move to keep the B44 platform around.
They can design a new car that has all of the B44 properties like geometry and weight balance but in a new package witch is more easy to work on. It will still look like a B44 but with perhaps re-designed diff housings and new beefier materials in wishbones. Adapt it to a modern day racer. I find it hard to believe that you must have a set of tools for each car when running both the B5´s and future B44. I really do hope they are not lazy. I mean, the B4 was still a winning car in every way and the B5 kept all of its good properties but in an updated package. |
