As a mark of respect toward HB themselves who have offered to help with a review of the car, can we not talk about importing this car to the UK since they have expressed concern in this area.
Sorry guys, so can you use PM for this stuff.

Yes OK -will do Jimmy, great site by the way.
My import is to mainland China through Hong Kong.
I am looking forward to your reviews of the RB5 and the D4.

Any one who has built the D4 could they comment on any of the tips in this blog - translated by google.
http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...&hl=en&ie=UTF8
or
http://hbbuggy-blog.com/

Any more tips in case I can not hold off on building until after the Oople review.

Jeff

These are all very good tips, Do be careful on building the diffs do not over tighten them. I run Tony's between 1/8 and 1/4 turn back

The car its self is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to build.

Good Luck with the car

We will be posting set ups on this site once we are all set up.

Please excuse any "noob" questions but this is my first buggy after several Helicopters.

It's amazing how 2mm bolts into plastic or alloy just don't take well to that final "nip up". I have stripped or broken "several".

Do you tighten the diff bolt down firm (compress spring all the way) then back off 1/8 to 1/4 turn?

The tips seems to say something about breaking the bolt or stripping the nut.

Look forward to seeing some more setup sheets.

Jeff

Hiya mate, I certainly didn't mean you when I mentioned that - I know you are outside the UK anyway.

Hmmmm.. not checked that site for tips, but here's mine....

Front Shock Tower: Build with the screw head facing forward. See the pics of my car from tiverton national... It reduces the overhang of the screw giving the ground let to bite at (If and when) you crash

Gear Lube: Use the DIP Orange cap stuff for lubing the gears.. The HB stuff is good, but for ultra free transmissions the DIP stuff is pimp.

Plastic: It's worth buying a 3mm tap for all the plastic bits.. I mounted mine in a old Hudy handle. Use a bit of the clear grease to ease cutting and the build goes much easier and less stress on your hands.

Other than that: Take your time!!!

Jimmy, My intention is to buy from my LHS but when the rep called there yesterday he couldn't give a delivery date so I'm figuring if they're selling them elsewhere they must be available, so why no U.K. date?
I'm happy to take Adam's word for it and hang on, after all if it's close to the intended date I havn't got that long to wait now, and he's a damn sight nearer the horses mouth than I am!

Take my word for it..... The D4 will be released very very soon..... Support your LHS and you get much more back in return than from a faceless Internet Shop...

Like me the guy at my LHS is no Brad Pitt but faceless is a bit harsh!, Adam I only resort to shopping elsewhere if my LHS doesn't have/can't get what I need, as I said in view of your comment I shall wait!

Adam, Good news when I went to my LHS today as apparently they've received an email saying the order forms are now being sent out. The guy at the shop reckons that they don't send out order forms until they're ready or very near to sending stuff out.
Will the optional parts be available at the same time and if so which ones do I need to get? I was going to order the toe in blocks, wheel hex adaptors, do I need the one way front drive shaft and if I order the alloy rear uprights do I need both sets?
Sorry to bother you with these questions but these are options which I havn't had on my Predator.
Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply.....

Option parts: Should be out same time as the kit. Mirage will have a plentyful supply of parts and option parts to keep you in the running.

Ones to get: This is a tricky one, I'll list the ones I think.. it's not a definitive list, just personal opinion in order of importance... please trim it to your budget.

1. One-Way Diff
2. Inboard toe-in bracket 2 degree.
3. Outboard blocks 0.5.
4. Outboard blocks 1.0.

Hope this helps....

Hmmm.
Not checked the mass of the car fully laden....
It was over 1700 at Tiverton. But that was with M3's and Losi Step pins, which are about as heavy as you get...

I'll check tonight and let you know.
