Mini Spike 1/8 Tyres!
Though I would let people know about these as there seems to be no news about them yet. Anyway, Schumacher have released the popular 1/10 Mini Spike tyre in 1/8 sizing. Graham Alsop used these last Sunday with success and the tyre looks to be a popular choice for those running on grass or astro turf from now on.
Available in Yellow or Silver compound. Last edited by ryanlownie; 11-03-2010 at 10:25 PM. |

Anyone that knows 10th Off-road, know how much they have monopolized the tyre market on UK grass and astro tracks. Now these are available for 8th and no doubt will be awesome.
Yellow compound for dry Silver for wet/damp and maybe even dirt tracks! Well done Schumacher |

Mini SPIKES.
I find Minipins too aggressive when the conditions are dry on astro, and wet they may aswell be slick. The Minispikes will have more give whilst gripping from the compound well, and will mean the car can be driven in to corners far harder than with pins!!! |

Yeah they did look so much better on track seeing Sloppy car round on these tires.
Do we know when thier coming onto the market to buy?? Wouldnt mind trying this soon on Astro tracks

Silver is the softest compound, quite a lot softer in fact. We will be trying them up at NNRC next weekend and I'll get back with a "report". I know there will be a mix of Yellow and Silver compounds in use so should give us an idea of what they are like. Suppose you can see for yourself if you come along to NNRC next time?

Yellow is rubbery and soft - returns to shape fast. Silver feels more natural and flexible but returns to shape slowlt - its debatable which is softer.
Available now guys!!! I know JEspares have them is, because as soon as Ry got them I went to pick some up!! |

I wouldnt buy them pre-glued tbh. I found the Schu wheels not very good, unless they have improved the quality of the rims. They crack on inside & found i was having to constantly re-glue them. You be better off buying your rims & trying diff inserts too. I will be trying them hopefully on AKA rims & AKA firm inserts at Stoke 28th March fingers cross.

They do list them pre-glued on the Shuey website, but id buy unglued and buy/choose your own wheels.
I will be using mine on the 21st at NNRC, no racing for me this weekend |

Hey BRS, I didn't notice any Elecy 8ths going around , how did you do? You should have come over and said hello, im new to 8th so its nice to meet people.
I was using Silver compound Minispikes, I didn't try Yellows. I put Silvers on whilst it was damp in the morning, and it was fantastic, then when it dried it was still great - I saw people with Yellows having more grip than I wanted, so I stuck with Silvers. Then in the A final, as it rained 15 minutes in, I didn't break traction! Not until it became very wet, but even then it was okay driving 10% slower (and the result showed it, ) |
