Default Interesting control tire for IFMAR worlds

http://2015worlds.yatabearena.com/rules/control-tires/

For 4wd cars it's a wide stagger rib. Never tried these before.

Anyone going to the worlds? I'm trying to find out if anyone is allowed to use the track. Would be cool to drive on it.

Simon

The wide stagger rib was announced some time ago for 4wd cars I think, Im not doing 4wd at min so not paid it much attention but I think people are using them.

As for the track for worlds, I have read it's a one off for the worlds built on top of there touring car track, not sure but I think the warmup will be held on it. think your chances of a run on it are slim to non! but if your that way go have a blast on the indoor clay track…far better than that nasty astro

From what I've heard Dave, they put the Astro over the dirt track & the number of people racing has increased.

I had a chat with Robert from Yokomo at the Euros last year, he said the exact same, increase in racers with the change to astro.

I understand why, partly due to not having to strip your car down after every meeting on astro. In addition to the unlimited amount of grip.

Thats why you race at a club with an astro track . I can understand you not wishing to strip your car down every time with your busy jet set life style and the time it takes to reset the slipper.

The wide cut staggers have been about for a while, but as I don't race 4wd I can't really comment on how they handle, although my guess would be that they fit straight on a 4wd front wheel without any modification.

As for running on the worlds track, I think your post may be better listed in a more generic area of oople as I don't think anyone from NBC will be heading to Japan to race rc in the near future.

While astro, well that's a different subject completely. I can see where it has it's pluses and minuses, but on a wet day I've had more problems with bearings seizing up on an astro track than any other surface, but you don't have to do so much cleaning up of mud and gunk. Like with everything, it's good in moderation is my feeling on it.

I think the worlds will be interesting........

There's a video on facebook and it's not that exciting a watch for qualifying. Although I suspect due to the lack of bumps and complicated jumps it will make for some good racing in the finals.
