Default New Race Format

Well I thought I’d drop a report this week after all the shenanigans of the past week.

Last nights racing was in the new format, 4 rounds Quali and a single final which seems to be what everyone wants. Made for a more relaxed night with time for chat.
Buggies ran Quali as staggered starts with TC’s keeping with the usual Grid start running the Q rounds as races. The decision not to change the TC’s to staggered/quali being fully justified by some great close racing in Quali.

So hopefully next week we’ll have a few more buggies back with to try the new format, and we’ll have some jumps out again.

One new racer last night, Erin joining in after deciding she wanted to be a racer after visiting Dumfries with Gary at the weekend, and going very well!!!

Would be good to get the likes of the Johnsons, Snowman, Bubba etc back again as well.

Couple of regulars missing last night with holidays etc

Hope to see more of you there next Monday – we’ve listened to what the buggy guys wanted and changed to suit!

One last thing. It was mentioned last night that it’s not really fun for the slower drivers when we don’t have enough racers to split abilities, particularly when being lapped and in some cases punted out of the way by the fastest cars.

We’re all guilty occasionally of getting into a rhythm and catching car we’re lapping unexpectedly quickly and hitting it.

While no one does it deliberately, it’s still not acceptable. Drivers being lapped do move aside and let faster cars through. So we’re going to have a refresher of lapping/being lapped etiquette next week with a possibility of looking at lap penalties for anyone blatantly “driving through” a car they’re lapping, deliberate or just through being particularly clumsy. Its not good and it’s putting the slower racers off racing.

See you all next Monday J

This is one of the reasons why it's better with staggered starts, to race against time in the Qs instead of all going off at the same time......it's spreads the drivers out over the track making it easier to pass the slower drivers when they catch up
