Question Timing Equipment

Guys, I have been looking at timing equipment and have come across a system called i-laps from the states. It is a fraction of the cost of the usual AMB system. It looks ideal for the indoor stuff as well. Would you be interested in us getting this sytem in and how would you feel about purchasing your own transponders at around £35. Please bear in mind that we may need to eventualy buy in the AMB system as the club grows and this would then require purchasing a different transponder, but I guess we could then dedicate the I-laps system for indoor events or a second track etc. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

We use an even cheaper system at our club which uses infar-red transponders which are only £16 each brand new. The system was made by the guy who made Laps free. It works very well and has yet to miss a lap yet.

If you contact Carl arrowsmith im sure hell be able to advise better. His details are in the following link: http://www.rctiming.com/contact.shtml

OK a quick update, as recomended by thomj316, I have contacted the manufacurer and we can get the transponders for around £18 each. I have asked the question as to how well they will work outside and am just waiting for a response.

I am also in communication with someone about an old AMB20 system, I will post here as soon as I know more.

Any thoughts so far?

Ian,
I'll be happy to buy either transponder.
If you're putting in an order, could you get one for me.
Thanks, Trevor.

Its a great system that i bought around 6 years ago, since then its been used indoors and outdoors on touring cars, 1/10 buggies and outside on grass, astro and dirt and its never missed a lap.

For the money its a great system, we fix all our readers to a long pole and G clamp it to the race control table. Ill send you a pic if i can find one to give you an idea.
