It's on a lovely xray radio tray and the layout is like in the manual matey. I can only assume this layout gives a better weight distribution. I think the trick here is to start out as the manual suggests and then tune from there as required. I trust Mr Hudy to do his sums correctly. Also, it would be a squeeze behind the motor, at least it would with my Orion set up.

All the 4wd in shorty mode seem to be run this way. As the gentleman above says, it must be the best balance for that layout.

It would be nice to see it on the 4 point scale for the difference layouts weight wise

The D413 is better with the ESC behind the motor in shorty config

Not according to Tessman or Lowe (if you look at their layouts)

Also you get less cooling air to the speedo sat behind the motor...

The weight is still better that way regardles of what tessmann and Lowe do and a fan fix the heat if you have that problem

Guys, what spares are worth getting for an XB4 ?
I guess a few have ran the car for a while and know what can break. Ive looked for the obvious things like hubs and wishbones but cant find any specific to the 2015 car so i guess the ones from the original car will be the same.
Thanks..

you can compare the parts numbers 2014 vs 2015 from the exploded view:

Can't see you needing many spares with a 2015 spec, maybe a front bulkhead which is different to a 2014, the arms are the same between 14 & 15, the usual shock shafts, spur gear.

Run Xray for 3 years now and the only thing I have ever broke has been front bulkheads and crown / pinion gears which will be good now with the metal gears.

Then again I've seen your driving!!!

I have run an XB4 for 2 years now and gone through the following

2 x Front bulkheads
1 x Spur Gear
1 x Internal gears for diff
1 x Rear Hub

Also worth getting some of the pins that you use when building the CVD's

Wow, she's really well balanced!

Toenz - what electronics and battery are you running?

Is that a low profile servo?

Cool, thanks Toenz.

So, here's the weight layout from my observation:

Left Side
Orion ESC & capacitor = 44g
Orion Motor = 188g
Transponder?

Right Side
KO Propo Servo RSX = 65g
Orion Shorty = 295g
KO Receiver?
